' Davenports constructed according to'the above description are easy to handle, safe in moving, the ornamental top can be used as a pad for a steel couch, and the mattress and bedfra-ine with the springs and floss may be fitted to any three-quarter or other size bed. The seating and backing piece can be removed with facility for cleaning and brushingpurposes, and its disuse at night gives it a longer life. f

Having described iny'invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, modifications within the scope of the claims being expressl'y7 reserved, is:

v1. In a davenport, an arin having a hollow space, a hinged door, and a bolster arranged on the inside of said door substantially as described.

2. In a davenport, the combination with an arm having a hollow space, a hinged door and a bolster arranged on the inside of `said door, of a mattress for supporting said door in its open position. i
