WITNESSES ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JETTE ADLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.,-ASSIGNOR TO CHARLES L. BEHLERT, OF BROOKLYN,
' NEW YORK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 5, 1911.
Application filed January 30, 1911. Serial No. 605,357.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J ETTE ADLER, a sub ect of the King ofRoumania, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combined Scarf, Shawl, and Sweater, of whlch the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to clothlng and 1t has for its object to provide a wrap which may be used as a scarf or shawl, and when desired may be readily converted into a sweater. y
In this specification I will describe the preferred-form of my invention, the novelty therein being pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a front View of a figure, showing how the wrap is worn; Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same figure, and Fig. 3 1s a view showing the wrap.
By referring to the drawings it will be seen that an elongated wrap member 5 is provided which may be used as a scarf or a shawl, and when desired may be converted into a sweater. The wrapmember 5 has a middle portion 6 with fastener members 7 secured near the top of this middle portion. The wrap member 5 also has terminals 8 with fastener members 9 which are adapted to engage the fastener members 7. Between the middle portion 6 of the wrap and terminals 8 there are two companion fastener members 10 which are adapted to engage each other. There are also companion fastener members llsecured to the'terminals which are provided for engaging each other. When it is desired to use the wrap as a sweater, the middle portion 6 is disposed in front of the wearer at the waist, the terminals 8 extending around the waist and being 7 crossed at the back of the wearer, the terminals then extending over theshoulders of the wearer and down in front.
At the rear of the wearer thev companion fasteners 10 are secured together to hold the wrap member 5 in place at the rear, the terminals 8 of the wrap member being held together in front by the fasteners 11. At the same time the terminals 8 are held to the middle portion 6 of the wrap member 5 by the engagement of the fasteners') with the fasteners 7.
My combined scarf, shawl and sweater maybe manufactured at very little expense and may be conveniently used in a number of dlfierent ways to protect the body of the wearer.
Having thus described my invention, I
claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. In a'combined scarf, shawl and sweater, an elongated member having terminals, with fastening members disposed between the terminals, and fastener members at the terminals for engaging the first-mentioned fastener members, the elongated member be the first-mentioned fastener members normally engaging the second-mentioned fastener members, and additional fastener members on the elongated member foriengaging each other and for holding the portions of the elongated member to each other at the point where the terminals are crossed. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. h
