Be it known that I, RAPHAEL LEVEILLEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Georgiaville, in the county 'of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Picker-Checks, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to devices intended to cushion the shock of a shuttle upon the picker stick and the shock resultant upon the latter ,by reason of its vibration, and

has for its essential objects the ends commonly shown in such structures and more particularly to afford a gradual and more yielding check than has heretofore been known; to provide a more convenient arrangement and location of the picking device and to render the same readily attachable and detachable to and. from looms of any construction; and finally to render the same readily adjustable.

To the above ends essentially my invention consists in the novel constructionand operation of the parts hereinafter set forth and made the subject matter of the appended claims. g

adjacent the shoe is a shoulder 15) which forms a stop for any movement of the plate relatively to the shoe in one direction, and for the purpose of preventing a movement of the plate in the opposite direction, there is cotlperating with said shoulder upon the margin of the lower portion of the plate; 15 a lug 20 in which is a set screw 21 abutting against the shoe. The upper end of the plate 15 is provided-with a vertically disposed slot 22 through which passes a bolt 23 provided with a nut 24. The head of the nut 23 tightening engages a lip 26 provided with an oblong longitudinal slot 27 through which the bolt 23 passes. By the described nut and bolt connection a ready adjustment .of a universal nature is afforded between the plate 15 and the lip 26. The lip 26 is an integral portion of a plate 27 provided with interspac'ed openings 28 which inember constitutes a supporting plate for a second plate 29 of greater length provided with openings 30 registering with the open ings in the supporting plate. Restingupon the plate 29 is an oblong sli dable block 32 preferably of wood, said block being pro vided with two intorspaced longitudinally disposed oblong slots in alinement with each other and vertically disposed. This block has also horizontally disposed. or transverse oblong slots 35 near its ends. Resting upon the block is a plate 37 pro vided with circular openings 38 interspaced from each other and in alinement with a portion of the openings or slots 33 of the block The plates 2.) and 37 are binding or clamping pla tcs held in frictional contact with the intermediate block 32 by bolts 40 which traverse the openings 28, 33 and 38 and whose head 41 bears against the lower face of the supporting plate 27.
