What I claim and desire Letters Patent is t 1. A detachable device for operating the shift mechanism of typewriting machines,
to secure by comprising bearing blocks provided .with
recesses adapted to receive the forward edge of the frame of the machine, -a transverse bent rod journaled in said bearing blocks, a loop or ring for engaging the shift lever of the machine, movably secured to one end of said rod, and a vertically disposed plate rigidly secured to said rod, whereby the rod may be rotated and the shift lever depressed by backward pressure on'said plate.
2. A. detachable device for operating the shift mechanism of typewriting machines,
' attached to said rod for preventing longitu dinal' IDOVEBIIIBIllJlIhQIQOf; and a vertically disposed plate rigidly secured to said rod whereby the rod may be partially rotated and the shift lever depressed by backward pressure on said plate.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
