My inventionrelates to improvements in separabledemountable rims,-the object of, the

in which the work may; be performed by any one of average intelligence, not: requiring skilled labor.

Affurther object is to. provide an improved rim of this character whichcan be manufactured and sold at a' comparatively low price, which will be neattandattractive in appearance, strong and durable in use.

With these and other objects in view, the

invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and er.

rangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

notched or broken away at regular intervals as shown at 5 for the reception of wedgesfi interposed between the rim and the telly 7 of the wheel 8.

lVhile the invention is not limited to any particular form of wedge, a form such as that shown in Fig. 2 may well be employed and will answer the purpose.

Midway between the notches or recesses 5, the flange 4 is recessed or notched for the accommodation of locking means, which will now be described. On the section 1,

bolts or blocks 9 are secured preferably by electric welding, and are preferably of the stepped form shown in Fig. 7. The larger ends of these bolts or blocks 9 project'outward from the edge-of section 1, and are adapted to enter angular brackets or keep-' larger t-han the bolts or blocks 9, so as to readily receive the latter, but form a snug fit and said brackets and the blocks or bolts are provided with registering screw-threaded openings 12 and 13 respectively for the reception of screws 14 to securely lock them together and hold the rim sections tightly joined.

To detach one section from the other, it is simply necessary to loosen or remove the screws 14:, when the section may be pulled apart, the blocks or bolts 9 readily moving out of the brackets or keepers 10.

In assembling, it is simply necessary to register the blocks or bolts with the keepers, and then force them together until the openings 12 and 13 register, when the screws 14: may be screwed home to lock the parts.

The wedges 6 serve to hold the rim on the wheel and by loosening these wedges, the rim may be readily removed whenever desired. By arranging the locking means an equal distance apart, and the notches 5 an equal distance apart-the positioning of one locking means positions all, and the positioning of one notch 5 over one of the wedges 6 positions all of the notches, so that y it requires no manipulation whatever to position to facilitate theelectric welding process and form a firm and secure welding.

Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details setforth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the'appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A rim of the character described, comprising two circular ring sections, one section having a flange projecting over the other section, blocks on one section, and said flange cut away to receive'said blocks/keepers on the other section to receive said blocks,

copies of this patent may be obtained for said keepers and said' blocks having registering screw-threaded openings, and screws in said openings, substantiallyas described.

2. A rim of the character described, comprising two circular ring sections, one section wider than the other,.a narrower secwider section, both sections having inwardly bent edges forming a 'rim of the clencher type, angular blocks on one section, angular *keepers on theother section to receive and fit said blocks, and said flange cut away to receive said blocks, said keepers and said blocks having registering screw-threaded stantially as described.

3. A rim of the character described, comprising two circular ring sections, one section wider than the other, both sections having inwardly bent edges forming arim of the clencher type, the narrower section having a flange projecting over the wider section, blocks welded to the narrower section and flat on their outer faces, to said blocks, blocks welded to said wider sections, and vprojectingv into said keepers, said last-mentioned blocks and said keepers having registering screw-threaded openings, and screws in said openings, substantially as described.
