Invention relates to metallurgy and can be used at rolling of metals. The method of rolling-separation of breakdown bar includes forming breakdown bar from rectangular billets connected together along narrow faces by cross connections, and longitudinal separation of billets by rolling in the plain rolls with relative reduction, which is equal, at least, to double relative thickness of cross connection. Prior to longitudinal separation of billets in the roller guide is performed the final forming of cross connections with bending radii of up to 1 mm with the aid of forming rollers from hard alloys or carbide steels, which are located between the guide rollers. Invention provides for practically ideal formng of the cross connection between rectangular billets (i.e., the narrow face of one billet through the cross connection is the continuation of the face of adjacent rectangular billet), fixed longitudinal separation of rectangular billets on these cross connections, and also reduction of the action of the wear of rolls tongues.
