Abstract

A method for preparing the proximal stump of the colon for the restorative step comprises the resection of the pathologically altered segment of the colon. The characteristic feature of the proposed method consists in application of the arterial clamp on a. colica media for 10 min followed by the visual and palpatory assessment of blood supply in the proximal stump. When the blood supply is not impaired, the artery is ligated. Upon ligation of a. colica media, the margin of the dissected altered segment is assessed visually. The resection of the pathologically altered segment of the colon is performed along the lines that are labeled beforehand. The distal stump is sutured with two-row suture. The proximal stump is exteriorized onto the anterior abdominal wall as a stoma. The restorative step is performed in 3-6 months. When contraindications are absent, the stoma is closed, and the continuity of the colon is restored by and-to-and anastomosis.
