Abstract
A method of thermal insulation of molten metal surface in a ladle includes feeding ground alumosilicic carbon-containing heat-insulating material on the surface of molten metal. As alumosilicic carbon-containing material a scrap refractory concrete or a ramming mixture for trunks of blast furnaces is fed at following ratio of components, wt. %: silica 30.0-50.0, alumina 40.0-50.0; iron oxide 4.0-10.0, silicon carbide 10.0-20.0; carbon 5.0-10.0 that prior to supply is packed in containers of a "big-big" type by batches of 400 ± 20 kg each.
