Abstract

A drive assembly for an escalator with hauling chains has working brakes, drive shaft with sprocket drives, which engage the working and idle branches of inclined pull chains with the steps enveloping upper final and lower tension sprockets. According to invention, the drive shaft is equipped with two dead synchronizing-balancing sprockets fastened on the axis, said sprockets engage the working and idle branches of pull chains from the side of the inclination of escalator, in this case the bearing axle mountings of chain wheels are located on the frame common with the drive shaft, and upper final chain wheels are equipped with spring-spiral tension device, furthermore, dead chain wheels are equipped with emergency brakes. Invention ensures an increase of reliability of the operation of escalator, which is reached by releasing the sprocket drives from the loads, pliability to upper final chain wheels and partial unloading of sprocket drives from the action of braking torque.
