A method for heating of open-hearth furnace comprises the supply of fuel and oxidizing agent into working space of furnace form double opposite sides by turns in mode torch reversal with simultaneous removal from working space of furnace of smoke gases and also disconnection of working space of furnace from smoke path with stopping of supply of fuel and oxidizing agent into the furnace in periods of torch reversal. The duration of disconnection period of working space of furnace from smoke path with stopping of supply of fuel and oxidizing agent into the furnace is within the limits from 5 to 60 s.
