Abstract
A method for assessing the elasticity of the arterial walls in the systemic circulation comprises the record of the sphygmogram of the brachial and femoral arteries at rest. The recording of the sphygmogram at rest is followed by recording it upon the graduated straining effort. More than doubled amplitude in sphygmogram upon the straining effort is suggestive of the decreased elasticity of the arterial walls.
