Abstract

A method for treating the wounds of the soft tissues in the patients with the purulent surgical infection comprises the use of the absorbing spongy drainage, namely polyurethane foam sponge formed in accordance with the contour of the wound. The thickness of the sponge should exceed by a third the maximal depth of the wound. The sponge is sterilized for 24 h in 10% solution of Povidon-iodine. Prior to use, the wrung spongy drainage is placed to the sterile physiological saline for 10 min. Finally, the spongy drainage is placed onto the wound and covered withy the aseptic gauze bandage pressed by the dressing or the adhesive tape.
