Abstract

A method for the surgical treatment of the carpal tunnel syndrome provides for cutting the ligament of the flexor retinaculum of the fingers. The probe is passed below the ligament of the flexor retinaculum, and flexor retinaculum is cut longitudinally in the middle of the carpal tunnel. The content of the tunnel is identified. When required, mesoepineurolysis of the middle nerve or other manipulations involving the bones or the soft tissues are performed. The internal and external edges of the ligament are sutured in turn with U-shaped sutures. The ligatures are not tied up. Instead, they are exteriorized at the site 1- laterally to the skin incision and then tied up. The edges of the ligament are folded outwards and upwards at the angle of 90-100°.
