Abstract

The invention relates to metallurgy, namely to refinement and modification of alloys of steel, cast iron and ferroalloys. A carbon electrode contains consumable carbon bar and covering. A consumable carbon contains, w/w: chips of graphite electrode – 50-80 %; coal electrode pitch – 7-15 %; argil (aluminium oxide) – 5-40 %. The control of rate of electrode consumable is provided by the presence of carbon bar of argil in the material.
