Abstract

A powder wire can be used in the ferrous metallurgy for a deep desulphurization of cast iron with magnesium in large capacity ladles. A powder wire for desulphurization of cast iron consists of metal sheath and filler ofand alloy of the system iron – silicon – magnesium, at that content of magnesium in the alloy is of 17 - 30%, moreover in the structure of hard alloy not less than 50 % of magnesium is concentrated in eutectic inclusions of magnesium silicide, which size is in the range of 0.15 – 0.6 mm.
