The method for the surgical treatment of the retinal detachment with accompanying gigantic ruptures comprises the vitrectomy, the spreading of the retina by perfluorinated fluids or the air, the retinopexy, and intraocular tamponade. The perfluorinated fluids or the intraocular fluid are evacuated with the concomitant supply of the air into the eye cavity when the patient turn the head at the angle of 45°-60° towards the rupture side. When the edge of the rupture is slid off, the retinectomy up to the equator area is performed. The invention relates to the ophthalmology and may be used for the surgical treatment of the retinal detachment with accompanying gigantic ruptures.
