Abstract

The invention relates to scintillation engineering, in particular to plastic scintillators (PS) with increased content of gadolinium (Gd) and high scintillation effectiveness. Composition that includes Gd is gadolinium phenylpentanate with tri-phenyl-phosphin-oxide (Gd(OOC(CH2)4C6H5)3(2TPPO), primary admixture - 1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD), secondary admixture - 1,4-di-[2-(5-phenyl-oxazolyl)]-benzol (POPOP), cross-linking agent – diphenyldimetacrylate (DPDMA), initiator of polymerization - 2,2'-azodiizobutyronitrile (AIBN). The claimed PS are transparent, not dyed and include up to 3 wt. % of Gd, this is 1.5 times more compared to the prototype. Scintillation effectiveness (SE) of the PS claimed at content of Gd 3.0 wt. % is 73 % compared to PS without Gd, or 41 % compared to anthracene. Technical result of the invention is in higher CE compared to prototype at content 2.0 wt. % for Gd PS.
