A process for the preparation of NiO antioxidant precursor involves preparation of reaction solution based on aqueous solution of oxalic acid and nickel soluble salt followed by interaction product crystallization and drying thereof. Nickel soluble salt as nickel sulfate is used, the reaction solution is prepared of nickel sulfate and oxalic acid in ratio of from 1:0.5 to 1:1 at pH value 1-2. Solution is stirred, or container with solution is agitated prior to crystallization, held for several hours, filtered and dried under effect of air flow of room temperature.
