Abstract

The method for predicting bone fracture healing comprises the clinical examination and X-ray imaging. In the blood serum, polymorphism of methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR C677T), nitric oxide synthase gene (eNOS T 786), the levels of osteocalcin, oxyproline, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) are assayed. The heterozygous 677-CT and 786-TC with osteocalcin level of 17.2-38.0 ng/mL, oxyproline level of 12-15 µM, and IL-6 level of 3.3-8.8 ng/L are considered as the favorable predictors of bone fracture healing.
