The invention relates to the treatment of nanodispersed carbon materials. A process for magnetic separation of nanodispersed diamond powder, comprising chemical removal of metals and their compounds from carbon material at acid treatment while heating, removal of nondiamond forms of carbon with acid treatment, neutralization of rinse water and utilization of neutralization products, and is different in that after chemical treatment nanodispersed diamond powder in the form of aqueous suspension with concentration is not above 0.5 % is separated in magnetic field to magnetic and non-magnetic fractions.
