Description
本發明有關一種固態硬碟的讀取方法,尤其關於固態硬碟讀取資料時,調整造成阻塞的讀取需求的讀取順序的方法。
固態硬碟(Solid State Drive,簡稱SSD)一般由數個非揮發性記憶單元(Non-Volatile Memory,簡稱NVM)整合成為單一儲存裝置。由於固態硬碟傳輸資料的速度非常快速,已成為現代電腦系統等主機主要的資料儲存裝置。
電腦系統通常利用處理器發送資料的讀取需求,再由固態硬碟中的記憶體控制器接收讀取需求,並分送讀取需求至資料儲存的各非揮發性記憶單元。由各非揮發性記憶單元根據分送的讀取需求的先後,登記在讀取需求佇列中。再依各非揮發性記憶單元佇列中讀取需求的順序,按照先進先出(First In First Out,簡稱FIFO)的原則,讀取非揮發性記憶單元儲存的資料,由各非揮發性記憶單元各自的先進先出管道經記憶體控制器整理後,傳輸至電腦系統。接著由處理器控制將讀取的資料儲存在電腦系統的動態隨機記憶體(DRAM)中備用。因此,固態硬碟利用非揮發性記憶單元各自的先進先出管道傳輸資料,以多管道讀取資料,達到提高資料讀取的速度。
然而,各非揮發性記憶單元的記憶緩衝空間限制,一旦讀取需求的佇列一滿,就不再接收讀取需求,常造成分送讀取需求失敗。如圖1所示,為先前技術固態硬碟的讀取方法。當固態硬碟中的記憶體控制器將接收的讀取需求,分送至各非揮發性記憶單元(步驟P1),並檢查讀取需求是否被接受(步驟P2),假如分送至一讀取需求佇列已滿的非揮發性記憶單元,該非揮發性記憶單元將拒絕接收分送的讀取需求,導致讀取需求分送失敗,記憶體控制器必需一再嘗試分送該失敗的讀取需求(步驟P3),直到該非揮發性記憶單元執行佇列中的讀取需求,讓出佇列空間重新接收分送的讀取需求以執行讀取資料(步驟P4),記憶體控制器才能繼續分送下一個讀取需求至其他非揮發性記憶單元(步驟P5),或者等待接收電腦系統下一個讀取需求(步驟P6)。
由於固態硬碟一再嘗試分送失敗的讀取需求,必需耗費時間等待阻塞的非揮發性記憶單元讓出讀取需求佇列空間,因而阻塞後續固態硬碟中其他非揮發性記憶單元資料讀取作業,導致固態硬碟的讀取速度降低,影響整體的效能。因此,固態硬碟在資料的讀取方法,仍有問題亟待解決。
本發明之目的在提供一種固態硬碟的讀取方法,藉由預先檢查非揮發性記憶單元,將會阻塞的分送讀取需求先儲存在需求暫存區,並繼續分送下一讀取需求,以避免讀取阻塞。
本發明另一目的在提供一種固態硬碟的讀取方法,利用定時檢查需求暫存區中讀取需求的阻塞狀態,重新分送不阻塞的讀取需求,以
提高讀取的速度。
為了達到前述發明的目的,本發明固態硬碟的讀取方法,首先接收讀取需求,預先檢查非揮發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列阻塞狀態,判斷不會造成阻塞,則將讀取需求登記在讀取需求佇列,判斷會造成讀取阻塞,則暫存讀取需求,繼續分送下一個讀取需求,並定時檢查及重新分送暫存的讀取需求,以提高讀取速度。
本發明固態硬碟的讀取方法,由固態硬碟的記憶體控制器接收主機的讀取需求,準備分送讀取需求至固態硬碟的非揮發性記憶單元。並在分送讀取需求前,預先檢查該非揮發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列阻塞狀態。判斷會造成讀取阻塞,則將讀取需求暫存在固態硬碟的需求暫存區,計時固定時間,以定時檢查儲存在需求暫存區的讀取需求。固定時間最佳設定至少一倍執行讀取需求平均時間,以確保空出讀取需求佇列。

有關本發明為達成上述目的,所採用之技術手段及其功效,茲舉較佳實施例,並配合圖式加以說明如下。
請同時參閱圖2及圖3,圖2為本發明固態硬碟20的系統結
構,圖3為本發明固態硬碟20讀取過程的示意圖。圖2中,主機10設置處理器11發送主機需要資料的讀取需求,且具有動態隨機記憶體12暫時儲存讀取的資料備用。本發明的固態硬碟20連接在主機10,固態硬碟20內設記憶體控制器21配合緩衝區22及需求暫存區23,控制由數個先進先出管道24一對一對應連接的數個非揮發性記憶單元25,整合成為單一儲存裝置,作為主機的資料主要儲存裝置。本實施例雖以固態硬碟20包含8個第0至7個非揮發性記憶單元25為例說明,但固態硬碟20包含且不限於8個非揮發性記憶單元25。另外,需求暫存區23也可由緩衝區22中劃設,而不需另外設置需求暫存區23。
主機10利用處理器11發送資料的讀取需求,由固態硬碟20中的記憶體控制器21依據讀取需求的序列接收讀取需求。再由記憶體控制器21依序分送讀取需求至資料儲存的非揮發性記憶單元25。非揮發性記憶單元25根據接收分送讀取需求的先後,登記在讀取需求的佇列。再根據各非揮發性記憶單元25佇列中讀取需求的順序,按照先進先出的原則,讀取非揮發性記憶單元25儲存的資料,由非揮發性記憶單元25各自的先進先出管道送出至緩衝區22。經記憶體控制器21整理後,將資料傳輸至主機10,由處理器11控制讀取的資料儲存在動態隨機記憶體12中備用。
為避免非揮發性記憶單元25已滿的讀取需求佇列,不接收分送讀取需求而造成的資料讀取阻塞。本發明利用記憶體控制器21針對分送讀取需求的非揮發性記憶單元25,預先檢查讀取需求佇列,判斷是否會造成資料讀取阻塞?對於不會造成阻塞的分送讀取需求,直接登記在非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列。而對於會造成阻塞的分送讀取需求,則先儲
存在需求暫存區23,以便繼續分送下一個讀取需求至其他非揮發性記憶單元25,除可避免分送的讀取需求漏失,且可避免阻塞後續資料的讀取。另對於儲存在需求暫存區23的讀取需求,記憶體控制器21利用計時固定時間定時檢查分送的非揮發性記憶單元25讀取需求佇列狀態。判斷會造成阻塞時,繼續暫存讀取需求,但判斷不會造成阻塞時,則再重新分送暫存的讀取需求,登記在讀取需求佇列以讀取資料。其中檢查需求暫存區23的定時,根據測試執行讀取需求平均時間,設定至少一倍執行讀取需求平均時間,確保空出讀取需求佇列,以避免密集檢討暫存的讀取需求,影響資料的讀取及後續讀取需求的分送。
舉一實例說明本發明固態硬碟20的讀取過程。圖3中,主機10發送讀取需求的序列A為0-1-2-3-4-4’-1’-2’-3’-5-6-7。記憶體控制器21接收讀取需求序列A,接著在時序T=0時,依序分送讀取需求。首先在分送讀取需求0至第0個非揮發性記憶單元25前,預先檢查第0個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列,判斷不會造成資料讀取阻塞時,將讀取需求0直接登記在第0個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求的佇列中,由第0個非揮發性記憶單元25根據讀取需求0讀取資料,並經先進先出管道FIFO0送出讀取資料。同時記憶體控制器21在下一個單位時序△t,繼續分送下一個讀取需求1前,同樣預先檢查的第1個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列,判斷不會造成資料讀取阻塞,將讀取需求1直接登記在第1個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求的佇列中讀取資料,經先進先出管道FIFO1送出讀取資料。同樣按照時序T,依序分送不阻塞的讀取需求2、讀取需求3及讀取需求4登記在讀取需求的佇列中讀取資料,如圖3中實線的讀取需求0-1-2-3所示。
記憶體控制器21依序繼續分送讀取需求4’,假設不檢查第4個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列。記憶體控制器21直接分送讀取需求4’至第4個非揮發性記憶單元25,第4個非揮發性記憶單元25因讀取需求佇列已滿,不接收而導致分送讀取需求4’失敗。記憶體控制器21如放棄分送讀取需求4’,將導致讀取需求4’流失,所以記憶體控制器21需一再嘗試重新分送失敗的讀取需求4’,而需耗費幾個單位時序△t等待,直到第4個非揮發性記憶單元25執行佇列中的讀取需求而讓出佇列空間,才能接收如圖3中虛線的讀取需求4’。因此,後續分送的讀取需求1’-2’-3’-5-6-7的時序也會跟著遞延至如圖3中所示虛線的時序位置,因此降低固態硬碟20的資料讀取速度。
為了改正前述降低讀取速度的缺陷,本發明固態硬碟20的讀取方法,利用記憶體控制器21預先檢查第4個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列狀態。當判斷佇列已滿時,先將讀取需求4’儲存在需求暫存區23,同時計時固定時間K,定時檢討需求暫存區23的讀取需求。並接著在分送下一個讀取需求1’,分送前同樣預先檢查的第1個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列,判斷不會造成資料讀取阻塞,將讀取需求1’直接登記在第1個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求的佇列中以讀取資料。同樣按照時序T依序分送不阻塞的讀取需求2’與讀取需求3’登記在讀取需求的佇列中讀取資料。
直到達到計時固定時間K,記憶體控制器21定時檢查儲存在需求暫存區23的讀取需求4’,預先檢查第4個非揮發性記憶單元25讀取需求佇列狀態,判斷不會造成阻塞時,再重新分送讀取需求4’,因此可緊接著分送讀取需求3’的時序,登記在第4個非揮發性記憶單元25的讀取需求佇列
以讀取資料,而當檢查第4個非揮發性記憶單元25會造成阻塞時,維持儲存讀取需求4’在需求暫存區23,等待計時下一個固定時間K再檢討重送,不會中斷讀取資料。同樣按照時序T依序分送後續不阻塞的讀取需求5、讀取需求6及讀取需求7,如圖3實線讀取需求1’-2’-3’-4’-5-6-7所示,登記在讀取需求的佇列中以讀取資料。
如圖4所示,為本發明固態硬碟讀取方法的流程圖。本發明固態硬碟讀取方法的詳細步驟說明如下:首先在步驟S1,由固態硬碟的記憶體控制器依據接收主機讀取需求的序列,準備分送讀取需求至固態硬碟的非揮發性記憶單元。進入步驟S2,分送讀取需求前,預先檢查非揮發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列阻塞狀態,判斷是否會造成資料讀取阻塞?假如會造成阻塞,則進入步驟S3,將讀取需求儲存在固態硬碟的需求暫存區,接著進入步驟S4。假如不會造成阻塞,則進入步驟S5,直接分送讀取需求登記在非揮發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列以讀取資料,然後進入步驟S4。
接著在步驟S4,檢查計時是否到達固定時間以定時檢查儲存在需求暫存區的讀取需求?假如到達定時檢查需求暫存區,則回到步驟S2重新檢查暫存的讀取需求,假如未到達定時檢查需求暫存區,則進入步驟S6,檢查是否還有分送的讀取需求,假如有分送的讀取需求,則回到步驟S1繼續分送下一個讀取需求,假如無分送的讀取需求,再進入步驟S7檢查需求暫存區是否還有讀取需求?假如需求暫存區有讀取需求,則回到步驟S4繼續計時,等待到達定時檢查需求暫存區,假如檢查需求暫存區無讀取需求,表示分送的讀取需求已處理完成,最後進入步驟S8,等待主機的指令。
因此,本發明固態硬碟的讀取方法,即可藉由預先檢查非揮
發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列,判斷分送的讀取需求造成阻塞狀態,將會阻塞的讀取需求先儲存在需求暫存區,避免讀取阻塞,以繼續分送下一讀取需求。另外,利用計時適當的固定時間,定時檢查需求暫存區中讀取需求的阻塞狀態,重新分送不會造成阻塞的讀取需求,以達到提高固態硬碟讀取速度的目的。
以上所述者,僅為用以方便說明本發明之較佳實施例,本發明之範圍不限於該等較佳實施例,凡依本發明所做的任何變更,於不脫離本發明之精神下,皆屬本發明申請專利之範圍。

Claims (6)
- 一種固態硬碟的讀取方法,其步驟包含:(1)接收讀取需求;(2)檢查非揮發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列阻塞狀態,判斷會造成讀取阻塞,則暫存該讀取需求,判斷不會造成阻塞,則分送該讀取需求登記在該讀取需求佇列;(3)到達定時檢查,回到步驟(2)重新檢查暫存的讀取需求,假如未到達定時,則進入步驟(4);(4)檢查還有分送讀取需求,則回到步驟(1),繼續分送下一個讀取需求,假如檢查無分送的讀取需求,則進入步驟(5);(5)檢查有暫存的讀取需求則回到步驟(3),等待定時檢查暫存的讀取需求,假如檢查無暫存的讀取需求,則等待指令。
- 根據申請專利範圍第1項所述之固態硬碟的讀取方法,其中由固態硬碟的記憶體控制器接收主機的讀取需求,準備分送讀取需求至固態硬碟的非揮發性記憶單元。
- 根據申請專利範圍第2項所述之固態硬碟的讀取方法,其中該步驟(2)是在分送讀取需求前,預先檢查該非揮發性記憶單元的讀取需求佇列阻塞狀態。
- 根據申請專利範圍第2項所述之固態硬碟的讀取方法,其中將讀取需求暫存在固態硬碟的需求暫存區。
