本發明一般而言係關於輪胎製造,且更特定而言係關於一種用於形成輪胎組件之裝置。
本申請案主張於2010年12月22日提出申請之第61/425,816號美國臨時申請案之權益,且以引用方式併入該申請案。
由於一技術進步以及一高競爭性工業環境,因此輪胎製造商已進展至更複雜設計。特定而言,輪胎設計者力圖在一輪胎中使用多種橡膠複合物以便滿足顧客需求。每一輪胎使用多種橡膠複合物可導致需要針對製造商之各種輪胎生產線存有大量複合物。出於成本及效率原因,由於與每一複合物相關聯之廣泛性成本,因此輪胎製造商力圖限制可用複合物之數目。每一複合物通常需要使用一班布裏(Banbury)混合機,該班布裏混合機涉及昂貴資本支出。此外,班布裏混合機在混合堅韌或堅硬的橡膠複合物方面具有困難。通常將自班布裏混合機產生之複合物船運至輪胎成型工廠,因此需要額外運輸成本。複合物之儲放壽命係有限的,且若不在某一時間週期內使用,則被廢棄。
因此,期望一種經改良方法及裝置,其實質上減少對班布裏混合機之使用之需要,同時提供一種裝置及方法,以藉由將兩個或兩個以上複合物摻合在一起並控制該等複合物與其他添加劑之比率而在輪胎成型機處提供定製混合。 可將非生產性複合物及生產性複合物兩者摻合在一起。進一步期望在輪胎成型機處具有一系統,其具備用以藉助促進劑製造可定製複合物之能力。待解決之又一額外問題係在輪胎成型機處連續地產生複合物。
具有小剖面面積輪廓及在材料上變化之輪胎組件對在輪胎成型機處之製造特別具挑戰性。因此,期望具有一種用於在輪胎成型機處製造輪胎組件之經改良方法及裝置。
定義
「高寬比」意指一輪胎之剖面高度對其剖面寬度之比率。
「軸向的」及「軸向地」意指平行於輪胎之旋轉軸之線或方向。
「胎圈」或「胎圈芯」通常意指輪胎之一部分,其包括一環形拉伸式部件,徑向內胎圈係與將輪胎固持至輪輞相關聯,其由簾布層簾線捲繞且藉助或不藉助其他加強元件(諸如,鋼絲圈包布(flipper)、護片(chipper)、三角膠或填充膠、緣趾護板(toe guard)及胎圈包布(chafer))來塑形。

圖1圖解說明針對適合用於製成用於輪胎或輪胎組件之橡膠組合物之一連續性混合系統之一方法及裝置10之一第一實施例。連續性混合系統10並不限於輪胎應用且可用於(舉例而言)製成與輪胎無關之其他橡膠組件(諸如,輸送帶、軟管、帶束層等)。該連續性混合系統特別適合於製成具有一變化組合物之小輪胎組件,諸如,插入層、三角膠及胎面(包含用於翻新輪胎之彼等組件)。該混合系統可直接提供於輪胎或組件成型台處以用於將橡膠組合物直接施加至一輪胎成型鼓或其他組件成型裝置。如圖1中所展示,連續性混合裝置10包含一主擠壓機20。主擠壓機20具有用於接收一或多個橡膠組合物之一入口22,如下文更詳細地闡述。該主擠壓機可包括適合用於橡膠或彈性體複合物之加工之任一商業性擠壓機。該擠壓機可包括熟習此項技術者通常所知曉之一市售擠壓機,如一銷型擠壓機、一 雙螺桿或一單螺桿擠壓機或一環型擠壓機。適合使用之一個市售擠壓機係由荷蘭(Netherland)之VMI Holland BV出售之一多流道傳遞混合(MCT)擠壓機。該擠壓機較佳地具有約5之一長度對直徑比率(L/D),但可介於自約3至約5之範圍中。一環型、銷型或MCT型之擠壓機係較佳的,但並不限於此。主擠壓機20用於將複合物A加熱至介於約80℃至約150℃之範圍中之溫度,較佳地約90℃至約120℃,且視需要素煉橡膠組合物。
主擠壓機入口22接收一第一複合物A,第一複合物A可係一生產性或非生產性橡膠組合物。下文更詳細地闡述複合物A組合物之實例。複合物A首先由一第一擠壓機8擠壓且視情況由一第一泵5(較佳地,一齒輪泵)擠壓。第一擠壓機8可係一習用銷型、環型、雙螺桿或單螺桿型擠壓機。泵5充當一計量器件及一泵且可具有齒輪,諸如行星齒輪、斜齒輪或其他齒輪。第一擠壓機8及第一齒輪泵5亦可係一組合單元。第一擠壓機8較佳地具有約3之一L/D,但可介於自約3至約6之範圍中。
稱為「複合物B」之一第二複合物亦在入口22處進入主擠壓機20且與複合物A混合在一起作為行進通過該主擠壓機之複合物。複合物B亦可包括一生產性或非生產性橡膠組合物。下文更詳細地闡述複合物B組合物之實例。複合物B首先由第二擠壓機40擠壓且視情況由一第二泵42(較佳地,一齒輪泵)擠壓。第二擠壓機40可係一習用銷型、環型、雙螺桿或單螺桿型擠壓機。泵42充當一計量器件及一 泵且可具有齒輪,諸如,行星齒輪、斜齒輪或其他齒輪。第二擠壓機40及第二齒輪泵42亦可係一組合單元。第二擠壓機40較佳地具有約3之一L/D,但可介於自約3至約6之範圍中。
主擠壓機20以一經精確控制量將複合物A與複合物B摻合在一起。亦可視情況經由一油泵60將油注入至主擠壓機22中。該油泵可位於任一期望位置處,但較佳地係位於入口22處。油控制複合物混合物之黏度。
裝置10可進一步包含一第一添加劑泵70(包含一第三齒輪泵及/或一第三擠壓機;請參圖1所示),其用於抽運一或多個添加劑,諸如,在主擠壓機入口22處被添加至混合物之一主要促進劑。該裝置可進一步包含一第二添加劑抽運器件80(包含一第四齒輪泵及/或一第四擠壓機;請參圖1所示),其用於將一或多個添加劑(諸如,一輔助促進劑)抽運至主擠壓機入口22中。添加劑泵70、80可係齒輪泵、齒輪泵擠壓機、文托利(venturi)泵或熟習此項技術者所知曉之其他抽運構件。該第三齒輪泵流體連通於該第三擠壓機,其中該第三齒輪泵之出口與該主擠壓機20之該入口流體連通以用於將一促進劑混合物注入至該主擠壓機20中。該第四齒輪泵流體連通於該第四擠壓機,其中該第四齒輪泵之出口與該主擠壓機20之該入口流體連通以用於將一輔助促進劑混合物注入至該主擠壓機20中。
若使用一個以上促進劑,則可將其分別或一起添加至混合物中。舉例而言,可添加一主要促進劑及一輔助促進劑 兩者。促進劑用於控制硫化所需要之時間及/或溫度且用於改良橡膠之性質。促進劑可呈粉末形式或至一樹脂或橡膠基中之一經囊封粉末。下文更詳細地闡述促進劑組合物之實例。
其他添加劑包含一固化劑或前體,亦可經由添加劑泵90將該固化劑或前體添加至混合機。一固化劑之一個實例係硫。硫可以固體形式添加。添加劑泵90可係一齒輪泵、齒輪泵擠壓機組合、文托利泵或熟習此項技術者所知曉之其他抽運構件。
因此,將包含複合物A、複合物B、硫、油及任何期望固化劑或前體或期望橡膠組合物之促進劑之所有組成部分添加至主擠壓機20之該入口22。該主擠壓機20將所有該等組成部分摻合在一起並產生複合物C之一輸出混合物,複合物C係A複合物及B複合物、選用油、選用促進劑及選用添加劑之一精確混合物。複合物C之輸出混合物退出該主擠壓機並進入一選用齒輪泵(主齒輪泵)25。選用齒輪泵25及主擠壓機20較佳地係位於緊密接近毗鄰一輪胎組件成型台或輪胎成型台95處,以用於直接施加於一芯、心軸、坯料或輪胎成型鼓上,如圖1中所展示。齒輪泵25較佳地具有一特定噴嘴92或塑形模具,其將來自混合機出口之複合物配製輸出以捲繞至一輪胎成型鼓或芯上之條帶形式直接施加至輪胎成型機95上。
複合物A之體積流率對複合物B之體積流率之比率係由針對複合物A之齒輪泵5之速度與針對複合物B之齒輪泵 42之速度之比率精確地控制。舉例而言,來自系統10之複合物輸出可包括以體積計20%的複合物A與80%的複合物B之一比率。另一選擇係,來自該系統之複合物輸出可包括具有以體積計35%的複合物B與65%的複合物A之一比率之一混合物D。另一選擇係,來自該系統之複合物輸出可包括具有以體積計10%的複合物B與90%的複合物A之一比率之一混合物Z。複合物A對複合物B之比率可因此介於自0:100%至100%:0之範圍中。可藉由由一電腦控制器100變化齒輪泵25及第二齒輪泵42之速度來瞬時地調整該比率。電腦控制器100可另外控制擠壓機及齒輪泵操作參數,諸如操作壓力、操作溫度、泵或螺桿速度。該控制器100與該第一齒輪泵5、該第二齒輪泵42及該第三齒輪泵及該第一擠壓機8及該第二擠壓機40電連通。
較佳地,電腦控制器100設定針對每一擠壓機之出口壓力之一壓力目標值。擠壓機速度係由控制器來控制,且係變化的直至達到壓力目標為止。壓力目標值藉由致使該擠壓機中之材料之回流來影響混合之品質。
本發明之系統10有利地具有一短的駐留時間,此乃因以下設計特徵。第一,在主擠壓機之入口處添加複合物C之所有組分。由於在完全相同位置處添加所有成分,因此可產生並控制精確配製。第二,每一擠壓機具有一低長度對直徑比率。第三,該系統較佳地位於毗鄰一組件成型台或輪胎成型台處,以最小化系統生產線長度以便進一步減少系統駐留時間。
圖2圖解說明本發明之擠壓裝置之一第二實施例。除以下外,皆與上文所闡述相同。將複合物A饋送至主擠壓機20之入口22中。複合物B如上文所闡述穿過結合一齒輪泵42之一擠壓機40,且然後在本文中出於參考目的而識別為「L」之一特定上游位置處被饋送至該主擠壓機中。使一主要促進劑抽運通過一抽運器件70且在同一位置L處進入主擠壓機。一選用輔助促進劑穿過一抽運器件80且然後在同一位置L處進入主擠壓機20。其他添加劑包含一固化劑或前體,亦可在位置L處經由添加劑泵90將該固化劑或前體添加至混合機。因此,所有成分在同一擠壓機位置處之添加允許對複合物組成部分之精確控制。
本發明提供一種將一經摻合橡膠組合物直接施加至一輪胎成型鼓或芯上之方法,該方法包括以下步驟:提供針對一第一複合物A之一第一擠壓機8及一第一齒輪泵5,且藉助該第一擠壓機8及然後該第一齒輪泵5來加工該第一複合物A;提供針對一第二複合物B之一第二擠壓機40及一第二齒輪泵42,且藉助該第二擠壓機40及然後該第二齒輪泵42來加工該第二複合物B;其中該第一及第二擠壓機8、40各包含至少一安裝在一殼體內之螺桿,且其中該第一及第二齒輪泵5、42各包含至少一安裝在一腔室內之齒輪,將該第一複合物A自該第一齒輪泵5之出口引導至該主擠壓機20之入口22中;將該第二複合物B自該第二齒輪泵42之出口引導至該主 擠壓機20之入口22中;針對一促進劑混合物X1提供一第三擠壓機及一第三齒輪泵;藉助該第三擠壓機及該第三齒輪泵將該促進劑混合物X1引導至該主擠壓機20之入口22中;藉助該主擠壓機20擠壓該第一複合物A、該第二複合物B及該促進劑混合物X1以形成一第三複合物;及將該第三複合物以一或多個條帶形式直接施加至一輪胎成型器件上;及針對一添加劑X2提供一第四擠壓機及一第四齒輪泵,藉助該第四擠壓機將該添加劑X2引導至該第四齒輪泵中,將該添加劑X2抽運至該主擠壓機20之該入口22中。
以下係可結合本發明使用之組合物。
I.促進劑組合物
在一項實施例中,可使用一單個促進劑系統,亦即,主要促進劑。可以介於自約0.5phr至約4phr之範圍(另一選擇係,約0.8phr至約1.5phr)之總量使用該(等)主要促進劑。在另一實施例中,可使用一主要促進劑與一輔助促進劑之組合物,其中所使用之輔助促進劑呈較小量(諸如,自約0.05phr至約3phr)以便活化及改良經硫化橡膠之性質。可期望此等促進劑之組合物對最終性質產生一增效效應且在某種程度上比單獨使用任一促進劑所產生之效應好。另外,可使用延遲作用促進劑,該延遲作用促進劑不受正常加工溫度影響但在普通硫化溫度下產生一令人滿意的固化。亦可使用硫化阻滯劑。本發明中可使用之適合類 型之促進劑係胺、二硫化物、胍、硫脲、噻唑、秋蘭姆(thiuram)、亞磺醯胺、二硫代胺基甲酸鹽及黃原酸鹽。在一項實施例中,主要促進劑係亞磺醯胺。若使用一第二促進劑,則輔助促進劑可係胍、二硫代胺基甲酸鹽或秋蘭姆化合物。適合胍包含二苯胍及類似物。適合秋蘭姆包含二硫化四甲基秋蘭姆、二硫化四乙基秋蘭姆及二硫化四苄基秋蘭姆。
II.橡膠組合物
橡膠複合物中可使用之代表性橡膠包含丙烯腈/二烯共聚物、天然橡膠、鹵化丁基橡膠、丁基橡膠、順-1,4-聚異戊二烯、苯乙烯-丁二烯共聚物、順-1,4-聚丁二烯、苯乙烯-異戊二烯-丁二烯三元共聚物、乙烯-丙烯三元共聚物(亦稱為乙烯/丙烯/二烯單體(EPDM),且特定而言乙烯/丙烯/二環戊二烯三元共聚物)。可使用上述橡膠之混合物。每一橡膠層可由相同橡膠組合物構成或交替層可由不同橡膠組合物構成。
橡膠複合物可含有一板狀填充物。板狀填充物之代表性實例包含滑石、黏土、雲母及其混合物。當使用時,板狀填充物之量介於以橡膠重量計自約25至150份/100份之範圍中(下文稱作phr)。較佳地,橡膠複合物中之板狀填充物之位準介於自約30phr至約75phr之範圍中。
各種橡膠組合物可與習用橡膠複合成分複合。通常所使用之習用成分包含碳黑、二氧化矽、偶合劑、增黏劑樹脂、加工助劑、抗氧化劑、抗臭氧劑、硬脂酸、活化劑、 蠟、油、含硫硫化劑及膠溶劑。如熟習此項技術者所知曉,端視耐磨性之期望度及其他性質,通常以習用量使用上文所提及之某些添加劑。碳黑之典型添加包括以橡膠重量計自約10份至150份,較佳地50phr至100phr。二氧化矽之典型量介於以重量計自10份至250份、較佳地以重量計30份至80份之範圍中,且亦包含二氧化矽與碳黑之摻合物。增黏劑樹脂之典型量包括自約2phr至10phr。加工助劑之典型量包括1phr至5phr。抗氧化劑之典型量包括1phr至10phr。抗臭氧劑之典型量包括1phr至10phr。硬脂酸之典型量包括0.50phr至約3phr。促進劑之典型量包括1phr至5phr。蠟之典型量包括1phr至5phr。油之典型量包括2phr至30phr。以介於自約0.2phr至8phr之範圍之一量使用含硫硫化劑(諸如,元素硫、二硫化胺、聚合聚硫化物、硫烯烴加合物及其混合物)。>膠溶劑之典型量包括自約0.1phr至1phr。
III.油
橡膠組合物亦可包含高達70phr之加工油。可在橡膠組合物中包含加工油作為通常用於使彈性體增量之增量油。亦可藉由直接在橡膠複合期間添加油而將加工油包含於橡膠組合物中。所使用之加工油可包含存在於彈性體中之增量油及在複合期間所添加之加工油兩者。適合之加工油包含如本領域中所知曉之各種油,包含芳香族油、石蠟油、環烷油、植物油及低PCA油,諸如,MES油、TDAE油、SRAE油及重環烷油。適合之低PCA油包含如IP346方法所 判定之具有以重量計小於百分之三之一多環芳香族含量之低PCA油。可在由聯合王國(United Kingdom)之石油協會(Institute of Petroleum)公開之石油及相關產品之分析及試驗之標準方法與英國標準2000部分(Standard Methods for Analysis & Testing of Petroleum and Related Products and British Standard 2000 Parts,2003,第62版)中找到IP346方法之程序。

Claims (10)

  1. 一種用於施加一第一複合物與一第二複合物之一混合物之裝置,該裝置包括:一第一擠壓機,其與用於加工一第一複合物之一第一齒輪泵流體連通;及一第二擠壓機,其與用於加工一第二複合物之一第二齒輪泵流體連通,其中該第一及第二擠壓機各包含至少一安裝在一殼體內之螺桿,且其中該第一及第二齒輪泵各包含至少一安裝在一腔室內之齒輪,其中來自該第一齒輪泵及該第二齒輪泵中之每一者之出口係與一主擠壓機之一入口流體連通。
  2. 如請求項1之裝置,其進一步包括與該主擠壓機之一出口流體連通之一主齒輪泵。
  3. 如請求項1之裝置,其進一步包括一電腦控制器,其用於藉由該第一齒輪泵對該第二齒輪泵之比率來控制該第一複合物對該第二複合物之混合物比率。

  8. 如請求項1之裝置,其進一步包括用於將油抽運至該主擠壓機之該入口中之一泵。
  9. 一種將一經摻合橡膠組合物直接施加至一輪胎成型鼓或芯上之方法,該方法包括以下步驟:提供針對一第一複合物之一第一擠壓機及一第一齒輪泵,且藉助該第一擠壓機及然後該第一齒輪泵來加工該第一複合物;提供針對一第二複合物之一第二擠壓機及一第二齒輪泵,且藉助該第二擠壓機及然後該第二齒輪泵來加工該第二複合物;其中該第一及第二擠壓機各包含至少一安裝在一殼體內之螺桿,且其中該第一及第二齒輪泵各包含至少一安裝在一腔室內之齒輪,將該第一複合物自該第一齒輪泵之出口引導至該主擠壓機之入口中;將該第二複合物自該第二齒輪泵之出口引導至該主擠壓機之入口中;針對一促進劑混合物提供一第三擠壓機及一第三齒輪泵;藉助該第三擠壓機及該第三齒輪泵將該促進劑混合物引導至該主擠壓機之入口中; 藉助該主擠壓機擠壓該第一複合物、該第二複合物及該促進劑混合物以形成一第三複合物;及將該第三複合物以一或多個條帶形式直接施加至一輪胎成型器件上。
  10. 如請求項9之方法,其進一步針對一添加劑提供一第四擠壓機及一第四齒輪泵,藉助該第四擠壓機將該添加劑引導至該第四齒輪泵中,將該添加劑抽運至該主擠壓機之該入口中。
