Description

裝置中已被中斷的下載會期之恢復方法及電腦程式產品
本發明係有關隨選視訊(Video-on-demand)會期之恢復方法。
數位訂戶線(DSL)授權之位元率,得以實施高位元率服務。優良品質的視訊服務即可送達訂戶。DSL可以廣播模態,分銷視訊廣播服務。DSL亦可由於可用從訂戶到內容廣播者的歸返通道,得以建立互應服務。如此即可對訂戶提供隨選視訊(VoD)服務。此舉涉及提供視訊面板,使訂戶可從內容伺服器下載,需索觀看。按照所擬服務,訂戶可以觀看下載中的視訊,以流送模態。在此情況下,視訊只觀看一次,不儲存於記憶器內。按照另一型服務,訂戶可下載,並將視訊儲存於記憶器內,隨後觀看一次或多次,或加以保存。一般而言,訂戶在開始下載和結束下載操作時都要回應,以驗效視訊之觀看,隨後據以計收服務費用。
在訂戶方面,視訊可在電腦螢幕上諮商,亦可在電視螢幕上諮商,此舉需將電視機連接到機上盒。一般而言,機上盒連接到數據機,可供經由網際網路存取VoD伺服器。機上盒可利用以太網路纜線連接到數據機。
當VoD服務發生中斷時,伺服器對錯誤機制實施恢復。使用簡單網路管理規約(SNMP)型,重啟VoD會期。此機制可在較短期間施能,例如頂多二分鐘。超過此期限,誤差恢復機制停止;VoD的輸送失敗,取消開具發票的動作。
於錯誤恢復機制當中,機上盒可切換成備援模態,例如提供只能存取於接收廣播視訊。當從伺服器接收SNMP命令,要恢復VoD服務時,即切換成VoD模態。若VoD服務不可用,切換回到備援模態。此開動操作可常常導致系統在廣播視訊接收模態和VoD模態之間振盪。
為防振盪,有一方法包含忽視SNMP命令。但STB即保留在備援模態,不能回到VoD模態。
本發明係關於裝置中已被中斷的下載會期之恢復方法,裝置包括界面,有網路能夠存取於遠程伺服器,以及藉伺服器實施下載會期用之機構。
為此目的,本發明界定一方法,包括之步驟為,從遠程伺服器開動內容之下載會期,利用具有至少該伺服器之一以上發訊通道,檢測下載會期之過早中斷,一旦通道之一不可用,驗證全部通道之可用性,會期不能恢復,而當全部通道又可用時,會期即告恢復。
會期是在STB內自動恢復,STB使用者在會期恢復方法當中不必加以干預。STB在接收會期恢復之前,核對全部通道有操作性。當全部通道不能操作時,可避免因會期恢復引起的振盪。
按照一具體例,會期恢復步驟是利用對來自伺服器的會期恢復要求,加以回應而進行。
當通道具操作性時,裝置回應伺服器的要求,以恢復會期。伺服器連續發送要求。
按照另一具體例,會期恢復步驟是利用對伺服器發送會期恢復要求進行之。
當通道具操作性時,裝置會要求伺服器恢復會期。
在一具體例中,會期是隨選視訊會期。
本發明亦涉及電腦程式產品,其特徵為,包括程式電碼指令,當該程式在電腦上運轉時,可供執行上述方法之步驟。「電腦程式產品」係指電腦程式媒體,不但包含有程式的儲存空間,諸如磁片或卡匣,而且有訊號,諸如電氣或光學訊號。
本發明參照附圖所示非限制性具體例及實施方式說明如 下,即可更為明白。
在第1和2圖中,所示模組係功能性單位,是否相當於物體上可分辨單位均可。例如,此等模組或其中部份,可一同群組在單一組件內,或構成同樣軟體之功能。反之,有些模組可由分開的物理實體構成。
在正常操作模態中,STB提供一組互應服務,VoD為其中一部份。提供VoD的系統主要元件如第1圖所示。機上盒1(以下稱STB)利用局部區域網路2連接至閘口3。局部區域網路是乙太網路,亦可另一種有線網路,或無線LAN。網路亦可本身限於乙太網路點對點鏈接,如具體例所示。STB 1包括對電視螢幕7的界面。
閘口3把局部區域網路2連接至網際網路4,後者連接至伺服器,能夠對訂戶提供VoD服務。為建置VoD服務,需要不同的客戶伺服器功能。其功能有諸如超文本傳送規約(HTTP)、即時流送規約(RTSP)、動態主機組態規約(DHCP),和簡單網路管理規約(SNMP)。第1圖上顯示二伺服器5,6,即HTTP伺服器5和RTSP伺服器6,亦稱為VoD伺服器。伺服器可自然包含在設備之單一項內,或位於網路分開部份之設備分開項內。尤其是HTTP伺服器對客戶提供使用者界面,呈超文本補充語言頁的形式,稱為HTML。
STB1關於VoD服務之主要部份,如第2圖所示。STB包括網路界面1.4,在此具體例內為乙太網路型界面。包括隨機存取記憶體型(RAM 1.2),相當於主要記憶體,和快閃型1.3次要記憶體,即使不再通電,仍可儲存資料。STB亦包含中央處理機1.1。視聽解碼器1.5和圖形使用者界面1.6準備內容,利用視聽界面送到螢幕。資料經由內部流路1.8,在不同模組間移動。
第3圖表示客戶STB和伺服器應用之間VoD服務架構內所用規約層。一般而言,VoD服務係基於建置若干發訊通道。
HTTP型會期處理使用者命令。HTTP伺服器對客戶提供使用者界面,在HTML格式中呈頁的形式。使用者界面提供客戶各種功能。此包含選擇影片、會期開始時收票、內容顯示命令,諸如:快轉、快回、暫停、播放,在VoD會期結束時收票。觀看VoD一方面由訂戶以接到進門票證明,開始VoD,另方面接出門票,以確認會期已告完成。操作者使用此到認收,以確保VoD已正確進行。亦容許操作者進行開發票。
RTSP型會期按照使用者要求,用來控制VoD伺服器。RTSP可控制流送流動之廣播。
基於例如SNMP控制的控制規約和遠程通知,可用來控制VoD服務。此等有「開始VoD」型的命令、「VoD開始」、「VoD完成」、「VoD受干擾」服務類型等。
會期控制機制用來控制服務存取授權。
IP連接實施UDP,是用來傳送聲頻、視頻、副題類型等有用資料。
VoD會期恢復步驟如第4圖所示。步驟S1,STB以VoD伺服器開始VoD會期,此為「正常」操作狀態。步驟S2,若HTTP連接有誤,是因WEB伺服器不可用,或喪失與VoD伺服器的連接,VoD服務即中止,連同所有互應式服務。STB檢測HTTP連接中斷,以及VoD服務中斷,則脫離正常操作模態,切換到次要操作模態,亦稱為「降級模態」。易言之,STB切換到「次要」狀態。積合於裝置內的局部應用,即在STB自動開始,以運轉此模態。應用開啟內嵌之HTML頁,擬議關於標準清單之簡化清單。內嵌式使用者界面不需連接至WEB伺服器。次要模態主要提供從通道廣播當中接 收和選用一通道之可能性。各通道相當於多元播送IP位址,而通道的選擇,係按照本身已知的機制,與相對應多元播送群組對齊為之。由於WEB伺服器不可用,諸如節目磋商或下載等IP服務,即不以此模態存取。當然,VoD服務中斷會因其他緣故,諸如RTSP、SNMP或存取控制通道等故障。亦可能因VoD伺服器故障,由於MPEG資料喪失,或STB和伺服器間的鏈接斷裂,由於例如網路操作者進行網路保養等。
同時,VoD伺服器試圖恢復下載操作。對STB發送SNMP型要求。STB忽視要求,以防降級模態和標準模態操作間之振盪。誠然,若STB接受要求,即換回到標準模態;惟如果WEB伺服器不可用,VoD服務不能恢復,而STB再回到降級模態。事實上STB接受每次要求,產生標準模態和降級模態間前後切換。忽視此等要求,則STB保持降級模態,對使用者之服務穩定。
在降級模態中,STB試圖恢復與VoD伺服器之連接(S3步驟)。核對是否全部通道必須能使VoD再變成可操作,使用聲納脈衝型策略。此原理涉及對所用各通道開啟STB和VoD伺服器間之連接,亦稱為插座,並發送資訊跨越此連接,核對此等通道上伺服器之可用性。自然,發送最少資訊,以免不必要地塞滿網路。然後,按照反應之有無,STB可決定目標伺服器之可用性或不可用性。
以HTTP通道而言,其要求包含使用來自WEB伺服器根部的不存在檔案之GET HTTP命令。若伺服器可用,以錯誤訊息回應STB。通常伺服器的回應必然是「錯誤404(檔案未找到)」。若伺服器不可用,STB即收不到任何回應。
以RTSP通道而言,其要求包含使用伺服器所未知的RTSP連接上的get_parameter。若伺服器可用,則伺服器的回應必定是「未知插座」型。否則,STB不會接到任何回應。
關於SNMP通道,測試包含發送管理資訊基本(MIB)之不正確識別符(稱為物識別符)之SNMP訊息。MIB含有屬性列表,必須以STB的SNMP代理加以支持。若伺服器可用,即回到錯誤訊息。
關係存取控制通道,測試包含開啟有伺服器之TCP會期,並發送任何資料之位元組。若伺服器送回一認證錯誤訊息,意即通道確屬主動。
同時,STB知道此等通道不可用,即避免在此等通道上發送其他類型之要求。此舉可防止網路塞滿。
步驟S4,由STB探測的通道一旦又可操作,則在各通道上的每次要求均正面,STB即恢復下載會期。按照具體例,STB接受來自VoD伺服器的SNMP要求,此為步驟S5。STB即切換到「重來」狀態。VoD服務即可重來,而STB回到正常模態。
下載會期另一可能之恢復手段是,把恢復要求發送到伺服器。
此項機制不需訂戶的參予。誠然,訂戶看到切換至降級模態,並回到標準模態,恢復VoD。訂戶不參予恢復機制。
按照具體例,識別四個通道。當然,通路數可以不同,或多或少。但機制保持一樣,把要求經各通道發送,核對各通道之可用性。
具體例所述方法,以流送模態與VoD下載會期攸關。當然,過程適用於各類內容下載。

Claims (6)

  1. 一種在裝置(1)中已被中斷的下載會期之恢復方法,該裝置包括界面(1.4),有網路(4)可供存取於遠程伺服器(6),以及藉該伺服器實施下載會期之機構,此方法包括下列步驟:-利用具有至少該伺服器的一以上之發訊通道,開始(S1)來自該遠程伺服器的內容之下載會期;-檢測(S2)下載會期之過早中斷;-驗證(S3)全部通道之可用性;-一旦通道之一不可用,會期即不恢復,而若該遠程伺服器對所用協定內之該裝置發送任何要求,以恢復該下載會期時,該裝置不予回應,且,當全部通道又可用(S4),即恢復會期(S5)者。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項之方法,其中會期恢復步驟(S5)是藉對來自伺服器的會期恢復要求之回應進行者。
  3. 如申請專利範圍第1項之方法,其中會期恢復步驟(S5)是藉對伺服器發送會期恢復要求而進行者。
  4. 如申請專利範圍第1項之方法,其中在會期之際可見到內容者。
  5. 如申請專利範圍第1項之方法,其中適用於隨選視訊會期者。
  6. 一種電腦程式產品,其特徵為在電腦執行該程式時,其包括程式碼指令以執行如申請專利範圍第1項方法之步驟者。
