Description

為了描述方便及理解清晰,本發明的該方法將被描述為體現在由該控制器308執行的軟體或韌體中。繼續看圖3,為了說明之目的,假設該等PDU 302、304之該等電源插座被連接至如表1中所示的例示性負載。
可從該兩個PDU 302、304定義和使用各種VPDU。例如,插座310.0和312.0供應冗餘電源給一網路伺服器。經由將該兩個插座組合為一VPDU,一控制系統340可用一單個命令接通或斷開至該網路伺服器322的電源。若該等插座310.0、312.0其中之一出現故障或在該等PDU 302、304其中之一中的一斷路器斷開,則其他插座(310.0或312.0)提供電源至該網路伺服器322,以及在一實施例中,該故障或該無故障插座將該故障報告給該控制器308。經由組合提供電源至一照明電路326及一照明電路324(分別由插座312.1和310.1供電)的該等插座可定義另一VPDU,致能報告照明所使用的能量。此等簡單地說是在實體分離的PDU中的電源插座為了控制及監視之目的而在邏輯上是如何相關的兩個任意實例。當然,在一單個公共PDU上的複數個插座也可能是相關的以形成一VPDU。
在本發明的一些實施例中產生「虛擬斷路器」,其中為某一插座或插座集指定電流限制,接著當由該PDU報告的該瞬間電流在一預定持續時間內超過該預定最大電流值時停用該(該等)插座。同樣地,高及/或低電流限制可能是預定的並且當超過此等限制時報告被提供至該控制器308。例如,一指定插座的一低電流限制可被用於決定連接至該插座的該負載是否已經出現故障或該負載是否已經被從該PDU電源插座拔出。應注意,可由多個控制器308存取PDU的一集合。一給定插座還可被定義為在一個以上VPDU/控制系統340上的一VPDU的一部分。取決於一PDU的該設計,由該PDU自己經由將一行動報告給該控制器308可執行電流或其他條件之監視以及在一超過規格的條件下採取行動,或該PDU可能只報告該條件並且該控制控制臺308例如經由命令斷開一插座而採取行動。
一給定電源插座的管理可能只有ON和OFF控制,只有某些特徵或狀態的監視或兩者都有。組合形成一VPDU的有形資產的一集合的管理主要是一資料庫管理程式。雖然熟習此項技術者將明白許多替代性資料庫管理技術同樣適用於體現本發明的該方法,該等技術是在本發明的該範圍內,但是以下描述說明具有程式的此資料庫管理結構的一實施例。該資料庫被描述為具有記錄的欄位,然而,一與例如一電腦相關的控制程式對於觀察者而言可將某些資料庫表顯示為具有子檔案夾、檔案等的檔案夾。考慮圖4和圖5,圖4顯示兩個網路伺服器(伺服器_A 402和伺服器_B 404)和三個PDU(PDU6 406、PDU8 408、PDU9 409),其中伺服器_A 402和伺服器_B 404被載入至該等PDU 406、408、409。伺服器_A 402經由PDU6 406和PDU8 408被提供電源至其各種子系統(伺服器子系統以及它們的各種互連未顯示)。在所示的該實例中,伺服器_A 402被連接至PDU6 406之電源插座OUT61 412和OUT62 414及PDU8 408之OUT81 418。伺服器_B 404經由PDU6 406、PDU8 408和PDU9 409被提供電源至其各種子系統(未顯示)。伺服器_B 404被連接至插座OUT63 416、OUT82 420、OUT91 422。當然,每個PDU可能具有作為其他目的(未顯示)的其他插座。
圖5為一對應於圖4中所示的該等連接的資料庫表的一實例。圖5的該資料庫表的該等欄位被定義在以下表2中。
一顯示控制臺310可能以一種建議檔案夾和檔案的方式顯示圖5中的該表的該資料,如圖6中的該實例。可容易地看出此配置的公用程式。例如,伺服器伺服器_A 402和伺服器_B 404可被安裝在一辦公大樓的該電子機櫃房間中,其中個別辦公室由不同承租人承租,以及進一步其中伺服器_A由一辦公室承租人擁有或租賃給一辦公室承租人以及伺服器_B由另一辦公室承租人擁有或租賃給另一辦公室承租人。雖然他們共用一些PDU,但是每個承租人可能需要支付由於累積所使用的與他們各自VPDU相關的能量導致的由指派給每個承租人的該伺服器所消耗的能量。同樣,現在很方便地在週末斷開一伺服器,而其他另一伺服器保持供電。每個承租人可能對其自己的指派VPDU被給予網路存取,猶如每個承租人實際上有一與他的伺服器相關的不同實體PDU。用於管理該資料庫以及用於呈現資料給使用者的替代性技術是在本發明的該範圍內。
如上文所述,一VPDU的控制可被實施為一電腦程式、嵌入式韌體、自定義邏輯或管理資料的其他方式,如狀態變數。為了清晰起見,圖7係提供為一軟體控制程式的流程圖,且該圖是一任何類型之控制器如何控制一或多個VPDU之一實施例的實例。該整個邏輯流程被稱為「控制流程700」。在步驟702,接收一用於一或多個虛擬插座(即,在一實體PDU內例示之一實體插座,其中該實體電源插座形成一虛擬PDU的一部分)的命令。該命令可由另一控制器、由在一電腦控制台打字的人、由一電源公用程式啟動,這些和其他資源先前已經被列出。應指出,該命令可能已經從該控制程式自身「接收」,如某一預定條件的結果,白天時間、溫度等。在步驟704,產生一對應於該接收命令702之相關(即,處理過的)實體插座的列表。在一實例中,接收之該命令將添加一插座至一VPDU中之電源插座之該列表。同樣回應的其他命令可包含從該VPDU偵測一插座、接通或斷開一插座的命令,亦即,由在該實體PDU中之該實體插座支援且具有相互通信之該構件的任何命令。另一類命令將是來自一PDU之資料之一請求,如上文所討論。
在圖7的實例中,下個步驟是(例如)經由將該虛擬ID 710及相應實體ID 712寫入到半導體記憶體(或大容量儲存裝置)中以更新該實體至虛擬PDU/插座列表,併同圖5和圖4進一步討論。為了擴展該實例,考慮從步驟708起,步驟702的該命令是一使在一選定插座產生一回應的命令。在步驟708,對於找到的每個實體插座(步驟704),一次執行步驟714至步驟724中所述之該過程一次。在步驟714,選擇該第一(或下個)實體插座。至該實體插座的該命令可能是該相應實體插座能夠回應的任何命令。對於將插座添加至該列表的該實例,一示例命令可被用於請求該插座、最後電流讀取等718的狀態。如果有必要,在步驟720儲存該命令之該結果718。結果包含一交接信號、電流讀取、狀態信號或根本沒有。也就是說,並不是所有命令都有一相應之回應信號。在步驟722,一標記被設定成指示已經成功處理該即時插座。在一些實施例中,保存一狀態位元組。在步驟724,步驟708的該列表經測試(例如,經由檢查所有標記及/或狀態位元組)以決定是否已經處理所有選定插座704。這也可經由使用一堆疊來實現,將選定插座之該位元址壓入至該堆疊,接著將它們彈出直到該堆疊清空。步驟726形成一訊息用於回傳給該請求者,在步驟728採取該回應步驟。

Claims (19)

  1. 一種用於管理從一或多個電源分配單元選出之複數個電源插座的系統,其中該一或多個電源分配單元中之每個包含用於個別管理該電源分配單元之每個選定電源插座的構件,且進一步包含一用於接收電子信號之輸入終端,從而形成一虛擬電源分配單元,該系統包括:一控制器,其包括:一電子資料儲存裝置,其用於儲存對應於該等電源插座中之每個的預定資料,及將信號發送至一輸出終端的構件,其中每個信號對應該資料之一部分,該部分對應於一給定電源分配單元之一特定電源插座;及一電子路徑,其用於將該信號從該控制器之該輸出終端攜帶至每個電源分配單元之該輸入終端。
  2. 如請求項1之系統,其中該儲存裝置是半導體記憶體。
  3. 如請求項1之系統,其中該儲存裝置是一硬碟驅動器。
  4. 如請求項1之系統,其中該儲存裝置是一可移動軟碟。
  5. 如請求項1之系統,其中該儲存裝置是一光碟。

  14. 一種用於管理從一或多個電源分配單元選出之複數個電源插座以形成一虛擬電源分配單元的方法,該方法包括以下步驟:a.接收一命令;b.產生一電源插座之列表,根據該命令之一含義選擇該等電源插座,其中每個電源插座具有一唯一識別符號,每個識別符號對應於與一特定虛擬電源分配單元相關之一虛擬電源插座之一唯一識別符號;c.在一資料庫記錄上回應於該命令以執行一作業,其中該資料庫記錄對應於來自該電源插座列表之一特定電源插座;以及 d.為對應於在該電源插座列表上之每個電源插座之每個資料庫記錄,從步驟「c.」重複該方法,直到在該電源插座列表上之所有電源插座都已經回應該命令。
  15. 如請求項14之方法,其中該命令之該含義是接通一電源插座。
  16. 如請求項14之方法,其中該命令之該含義是斷開一電源插座。
  17. 如請求項14之方法,其中該命令之該含義是從該電源插座請求資料。
