Abstract

A concealed fixing retaining clip for fixing a roof or other cladding sheet to an underlying support structure is disclosed. The clip includes a base, a pair of side walls that extend from the base and converge towards each other, and a pair of flanges extending outwardly and downwardly from the side walls. The flanges define retaining members for engaging re-entrant portions in the sides of ribs of cladding sheets. The side walls are formed so that they do not contact each other in the as-manufactured form of the clip and are forced inwardly towards each other or into contact with each other when, in use, a cladding sheet is positioned on the clip. The flanges define at least part of an arch when, in use, a cladding sheet is positioned on the clip with the side walls forced together. In addition, the flanges have sharp outwardly facing outer ends that contact and thereby engage securely the re-entrant portion of one of the ribs of a cladding sheet when, in use, the cladding sheet is positioned on the clip.

Typically, the roofing sheet is cold-formed from the top or unpainted steel strip and includes one or more parallel ribs with opposing sides, a flat bottom 10 portion, and a side-by-side relationship that allows the sheets to partially overlap. Set the side edge structure. By puncturing the sheet and penetrating the fastener of the underlying structure, such as a roof nail and a screw, the sheet is directly nailed to the underlying structure to secure the cover sheet to a lower roof support structure is known Technology. 15 using a fastener secured to the structure with a fastener and extending into the rib, plus a retaining member or tab that can be engaged with the recessed portion of the rib to secure the sheet to the clamp The fixing of the cover sheet to the underlying structure is also a known technique. These clamp assemblies are superior to nails most of the time because they allow the cover sheet to be secured in a hidden configuration by 20 to a lower structure. In use, the hidden fixed holding jig is fixed to a lower structure at an isolation pitch determined according to the pitch of the ribs of the cover sheet. Thereafter, the cover sheet is positioned on the jig in a partially overlapping relationship by continuously pressing the sheet onto the jig such that the sides of the ribs 1278562 are pushed outward at the beginning. The concave portion of the rib passes through the retaining member and is quickly inwardly engaged with the retaining member. There are many known hidden fixed maintenance clamps. The jigs include a series of dislocations as claimed in International Patent Application No. 5 PCT/GB91/00450 (WO 91/12392) filed by the company, and the Australian Patent No. 685102 and other Australian patents and patents. The jig disclosed in the application, and the jig disclosed in the applicant's international patent application No. PCT/AU01/00818 (WO 01/02666). The jig KUPLOK trademark disclosed in International Patent Application No. PCT/AU01/00818 has been marketed in Australia. L· jj

The applicant of the present application has developed a new form of concealed fixed retaining clip 15 which, compared with the above-mentioned jig, has a relatively straightforward construction' and a level of performance C. The present invention provides a concealed fixed maintenance jig. For fixing a roof or other cover sheet to a lower support structure, the clamp comprises: (a) a base; 20 (b) a pair of side walls extending from the base and meeting each other; opposite (c) a pair of flanges The pair of flanges define a retaining element to abut the recessed portion to the side of the rib covering the sheet, wherein one flange extends from the upper end of one of the sides and the other flange from the upper end of the other side extend. The jig of the present invention has a number of features as described below that enhance the performance of the jig over a range of child points. One of the ranges is the resistance to the force acting on the cover sheet. The upward force acting on the mounted cover sheet causes the sheet 5 to disengage from the hidden fixed holding fixture. Depending on the situation, the upward force may result in: (a) the side edges of the rib of the sheet are rotated outwardly away from the flange of the clamp; and/or (b) the flange of the clamp is upwardly The sheet is folded and the sheet is released from the jig 10. Another range is that damage to the cover sheet may occur when the cover sheet is positioned in the concealed fixed maintenance jig. In particular, the Applicant has found that a cover sheet for use with conventional clamps, particularly for clamps having relatively short and rigid retaining elements, is prone to depression when the 15 cover sheet is applied to the clamp. . The four depressed portions are formed in a portion where the thin plate contacts and slides over the jig when the thin plate is applied to the jig. The recess does not affect the mechanical properties of the sheet. However, this depression affects the aesthetics of the cover sheet, and this has been confirmed as a major issue. Another range is the damage that may be caused to the cover sheet when the cover sheet needs to be removed from the concealed fixed retention clip. In particular, the Applicant has found that it is difficult to damage the cover sheet from conventional clamps, particularly for clamps having relatively short and rigid retention elements. This is a big problem because we are, for example, 7 1278562 when installing air-conditioning to the roof, it is necessary to remove the cover sheet to enter the roof void and then replace the removed sheet. In view of the above, the jig of the present invention includes the following features: Preferably, the side walls of the jig of the present invention are formed, and under the appearance of the jig 5, they are not in contact with each other, but the cover sheet is in use. When positioned on the fixture, they push in or out of each other. This feature makes it easier to mount the clamp to the underlying structure because the gap remaining between the side walls of the clamp allows the screwdriver to be inserted, thereby making the action of securing the clamp to the underlying structure more efficient. 10 Preferably, the clamp is made of a resiliently flexible material such that the sides of the clamp can be advanced simultaneously on the side of the cover when it is positioned in use in use, Apply a force to the outside. This feature helps to ensure that the flange and the recessed portion of the rib of the cover sheet are indeed toothed. In detail, the outward force obtained will push the convex edge to the cover sheet. Preferably, the flanges are formed in a reticle of each other along a central line that passes perpendicularly through the base of the clamp. Preferably, the side wall and the base are straight sides such that the side walls and the base define a triangular configuration as seen from the sides of the clamp. This 20 feature contributes to the overall strength and stiffness of the fixture. In more detail, the triangular structure increases the ability of the clamp to resist the downward load of the clamp when, for example, a person presses a rib covering the sheet to push the rib toward the clamp. Further, the triangular structure can reconcile the offset of the outer sheet at the position which is applied to the center of the offset from the center of the I I 127 562 which is applied to the clamp when the cover sheet is pressed down to the clamp. In detail, the clamp <_ edge can slide relative to each other according to the partial: lower load, and then return to the contour of the motorcycle. The angling structure strengthens the side wall against its movement beyond the original production 5 of the (4) and is therefore a major factor in the ability of the clamp to resist the overhanging force. To improve the side, each of the side walls preferably includes - or a plurality of reinforcing ribs, the strength and hardness of the wall. Preferably, at least the edges of each of the side walls comprise a flange of an inner paste to improve the strength and stiffness of the side walls. Preferably, the flange defines at least a portion of an arch when the cover sheet is positioned in the support in use and the side walls are advanced into each other. This: the feature can increase the resistance of the fixture to the lifting force on the cover sheet. In detail, this feature possesses the characteristics of an arch, that is, it has a structure that converts the upward force into an outward force. When the 15 shroud sheets are positioned on the jig in use and the side walls are pushed into each other, the side walls preferably contact or are in close proximity to each other near the upper end of the jig. This feature ensures that the fixture material can be as close as possible to the apex of the twisted object, which in turn helps concentrate the more clamps of the mine on the fixture, and the strength of the fixture at this location. optimization. From the angle of view of the base of the jig of the jig on the horizontal surface, the swallowing flanges are configured to extend outward and downward in a manner corresponding to each other. The flange may be formed - in comparison to the rib of the cover sheet, at an angle of approach to the steep hill so that the cover sheet is pressed down into the clamp during use to position the sheet on the fixture The deflection of the sides of the rib of the cover sheet 1218562 is progressive rather than steep outward deflection. This feature can minimize the dishing of the sheet. In this configuration, the flange is preferably relatively long. Preferably, the flange is at least 25% of the height of the clamp. 5 The angle of the flange and the base formed by the clamp is preferably between 40 degrees and Optionally, the flange may also form a relatively gentle approach angle to the rib of the cover sheet so that the cover sheet is pressed down to the fixture during use to When the sheet is positioned on the jig, 10 the skew of the side of the rib of the cover sheet is steep, rather than progressively outwardly deflected. In this configuration, the flange is preferably Preferably, the preferred state is less than 25% of the height of the clamp. The angle of formation of each of the flange and the base of the clamp is preferably less than 40 degrees. The cover sheet is positioned in the fixture during use. Preferably, each of the flanges has a sharp outer end that contacts and thereby tightly engages the recessed portion of the rib of the cover sheet. The outer end of each of the flanges is preferably Extending outwardly. In other words, the outer end of each of the flanges 20 is not The side walls of the clamp are bent inwardly. Each of the flanges preferably includes two corner portions that fold inwardly when the cover sheet is positioned on the clamp in use and form a lateral extension to the The outer end of the flange contacts and thereby teeth the surface of the recessed portion of the rib of the cover sheet. This feature increases the contact surface area between the flange 10 1278562 and the intersecting 4th blade, And when the thin plate needs to be removed from the beta clamp, the damage to the thin plate is minimized. The transition between the side sill and the flange is preferably a tight radius curve, so that the more the better The squeezing material is concentrated on the upper half of the jig, and the strength and hardness of the jig are optimized at the portion. The upper end of the side wall preferably defines a substantially circular opening in the finished dislocation. To facilitate the insertion of the screwdriver to secure the clip to a lower structure. The present invention also provides a clamp assembly comprising: 10 (a) an elongated strip; and (b) a plurality of strips mounted to the strip The aforementioned implied on one of the upper surfaces The present invention is further described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating an example made in accordance with the present invention. The base 5 includes an opening 63 to facilitate securing the clamp 3 to a lower roof structure, such as a roof parallel stringer (not shown). The δH side wall 7 and the base 5 are straight sides and define a general The structure of the triangle is as shown in the side view of Fig. 2. In the manufacturing form shown in Figs. 1 to 5, the side walls 7 do not actually touch each other although they meet each other, and the side walls 7 are in contact with each other. There is a gap G at the upper end. However, as shown in Fig. 6c, when used, when the cover sheet is positioned on the side wall, the side wall 7 is forced to be connected to each other at the upper end of the side wall.

Each of the side walls 7 includes a reinforcing rib 11 to improve the hardness of the side wall 7. The upper end of the side wall 7 defines a generally circular opening π to facilitate insertion of a screw driver (not shown) for mounting the clamp to a lower structure. 13 1278562 The flange 9 forms at least a portion of an arch. The transition region between the side wall 7 and the flange 9 is a tight radius curve so that more and better fixture material is concentrated in the upper half of the clamp 3, so that the strength and hardness of the clamp at this portion optimization. 5 Each of the flanges 9 has a relatively steep approach angle formed by the flange and the base 5 between 40 degrees and 75 degrees. Referring to Fig. 2, the approach angle is indicated by two broken lines in the figure, and the angle between the two broken lines is 40 degrees. Each of the flanges 9 terminates in a sharply downwardly outward (relative to the inner curved) end 10 which defines a contact surface 25 for engaging a recessed portion of the sheet of winter ribs. Each of the flanges 9 includes an inner curved portion 17 at two corners of the lower end of the flange 9. The corner portion forms a contact surface 21 that extends transversely to the contact surface 25 of the outer end of the flange. 15 Referring to Figures 6 and 7, each of the cover sheets 29 is formed by cold bending of a steel sheet and includes a leading edge (not shown), a trailing edge (not shown), and generally referred to by numeral 31. The central longitudinally extending ribs and a pair of longitudinally extending flat bottoms 51 located on opposite sides of the ribs 31. The cover sheet 29 can have any suitable length and width and can include any suitable number of ribs separated by the flat bottom. The rib 31 of the cover sheet 29 includes two sides separated by a flat upper portion 33, the side being referred to by reference numeral 35. Each of the side edges 35 includes a portion 41 extending outwardly and downwardly from the upper portion 33, a portion 43 extending downwardly and inwardly from a lower edge of the portion 41, and a portion from the portion 43 to the 14 1278562 and An outwardly extending portion 45, and a downwardly and outwardly facing shoulder 45 that merges with the flat bottom 51. This portion 43 of each of the upper maintaining jig portions 15 defines opposing concave portions of the ribs 13, hereinafter referred to as "recessed portions 43". 5 The leading and trailing edges (not shown) of the cover sheet 29 are formed as partially finished ribs to facilitate continuous interlocking of the sheets. These partially completed ribs are referred to as "leading edge structures" and "leaf edge structures." In use, a plurality of the jigs 3 are fixed to the parallel stringers by the length of the parallel rafters with the screws spaced apart. After 10, the cover sheets 29 are continuously placed on the parallel strip in a partially overlapping relationship. Then, the cover sheet 2 9 is toothed in a progressive manner after the sheet is continuously placed on the stringer. This is achieved by pressing the leading edge structure of the sheet 29, the rib 31 15 and the trailing edge structure to the clamp 3 such that the leading edge structure, the rib 31 and the trailing edge structure It is deflected outwardly and the flange 9 of the clamp 3 is deflected inwardly. This action causes the leading edge structure 8, the rib 31 and the trailing edge structure 10 to be positioned on the clamp 3, and the surface 25 of the lower end 20 of the flange 9 and the flange 9 The surface 21 of the inner curved corner portion 17 then engages the concave portion 43 of the rib 31 so that the cover sheet 29 can be fixed to the jig 3. This action is illustrated in Fig. 6 to illustrate the relationship between the ribs 31 of the cover sheet 29 and the positioning of the ribs 31 on the jig 3. It is noted that the steep approach angle of the flange 9 and the inward movement of the side wall 7 in the illustration 15 1278562 can minimize the recess of the portion of the cover sheet that contacts and slides over the flange 9. We have also noticed that the upper ends of the side walls 7 are in contact with each other in the mounting position shown in Fig. 6c. 5 Figure 7 illustrates the interaction between the clamp 3 and the cover sheet 29 as the cover sheet 29 is removed from the clamp 3 to enter the roof cavity as needed. Referring to Figure 7a, the first step of removing the cover sheet 29 from the clamp 3 includes raising the right hand side of the cover sheet 29 outwardly as shown so that the cover sheet is in the clamp 3 The side is completely detached from the flange 9, and the portion 45 of the side of the rib 31 contacts and rests on the outer side surface of the flange 9 on the side of the clamp, as shown in Figure 7b. Referring to Figure 7b, the second step of removing the cover sheet 29 from the clamp 3 includes moving the left hand side of the cover sheet 29 outwardly as shown, such that the cover sheet is at the clamp 3 The flange 9 is completely detached from the side. I can understand that the contact surface 21 of the inner corner portion of the flange 9 on the side of the clamp 3 can avoid the contact table formed on the lower end of the flange 9 25 pokes in and damages the rear entry portion 43 on the side of the cover sheet. Figure 8 is a perspective view illustrating a preferred embodiment of a clamp assembly 20 constructed in accordance with the present invention, wherein the clamp assembly includes a strap 81 and two clamps 83, the two clamps being similar to the first The jig 3 mounted on the belt 81 in the figure of FIG. As shown above and illustrated, the clamps 3 are similar to 83, so we represent the same structural features with the same reference numerals. 16 1278562 The strip 81 is a convenient member for securing the plurality of jaws 81 to the parallel stringers (not shown) along the length of the parallel stringers at a desired separation distance. The strip 81 includes a flat base 87 and a longitudinally extending 5 side edge 89 of the ridge. The side edge 89 is shaped as a downwardly open conduit. The inner wall portion of the side edge 89 (see Fig. 8) has spaced slits (not shown) for receiving the outwardly extending tab 15 of the base portion 5 of each of the clamps 83. In addition, the width of the straight base 87 of the strip 81 and the height of the side edge 89 are selected such that the clamp 83 is in close contact with the flat base 87, and the clamp 81 is facing down. The shoulder 73 (the shoulder 73 shown in the embodiment of Fig. 1) rests on the top wall 93 of the side edge 89 of the strip 81. The difference between the clamps 3 and 83 is as follows: 1. Compared with the approach angle and length of the flange of the clamp 3, the flange 9 of the clamp 83 has a relatively steep approach angle and the flange The length of 15 is relatively short. 2. The clamp S3 does not have an inscribed corner on the flange. 3. The clamp 83 has an inwardly curved flange 97 disposed along the edge of the side wall 7 to improve the stiffness of the side wall.
