Abstract
A sealing lead and a cold cathode florescent lamp having the same are provided. Even though the sealing lead consists of tungsten and molybdenum materials, its strength of connection with external wires can be maintained by welding. The sealing lead 3 includes a sealing material 4 consisting of tungsten and molybdenum and an external lead 5 having a core 5a and a cover layer 5b. The surface of the core 5a is connected to an external end of the sealing material 4 by welding. The cover layer 5b is then formed on the surface of the core 5a, and is a metal consisting of at least one kind of metal selected from copper, tin, or zinc. Since mutual diffusion occurs between the sealing material 4 and the cover layer 5b, the sealing lead 3 can be easily connected by utilizing a resistant welding method and its strength of connection can be increased.
