Abstract

The objective of this invention is to develop thin film pressure sensors, which are embedded in traffic marking. The devices are used to detect the traffic parameters of the traffic flow, lengths, speed, and behaviors of different kinds of vehicles. With those characteristics, we can do traffic light control through adaptive traffic light control at an intersection. To achieve the goal of adaptive signal control, we gather information by counting pulse signals to analyze which roadway has higher priority. For this purpose, we propose an approach to detect what kinds of vehicles are, such as motorcycles, automobiles, bus, or tuck/tailor, and then to control traffic lights at an intersection. With results of roadway performance, we also propose the frame of system architecture to verify the signal priority of our algorithm and to describe how the system works in detail.
