Abstract

The method involves detecting and classifying an object within the range of lane section as pedestrian crossing (18) with the help of camera systems (46,48), and disabling release signal for the lane section of the pedestrian crossing for vehicle (36) by the traffic light or for deactivating warning signal produced by the traffic light, if detected object is classified as pedestrian (32,34) in the range of the pedestrian crossing. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling traffic light at a pedestrian crossing.
