等輸入者變換成漢字或其他記號等。最近，在ns碼、移位 JIS碼、EUC、Unicode等代表的文字碼中，能使用許多文字 (假名，漢字，記號等），因此，藉由日語輸入用應用軟體能輸入 的文字種類也得到增加。 再者，也可以將在上述文字碼中預先沒有定義的漢字或 記號等文字作爲外字登錄，進行使用。 在這種日語輸入用應用軟體中，爲了輸入用戶根據讀法 等不能輸入的文字，提供文字檢索功能。
