Abstract

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device in which the display quality is improved by providing a back light and reducing animation residual image. The solution of the present invention is provided with a frame memory, a data serial- parallel converting circuit 3, and a pulse period converting circuit 4. A signal writing device is also provided to write video signals against a display panel 7 with high speed. Furthermore, a back light controlling circuit 8 is provided to control a back light 9 so that, when the video signals equivalent to a next screen is written with the signal writing means, the back light 9 is turned off during the writing time of the video signals and during the liquid crystal response time, and the back light 9 is turned on till the writing operation starts for the video signals equivalent to the next frame.
