Abstract

Disclosed is a replacing method of escalator step link and its guide rail device that shortens the suspension time of an escalator in reducing a span of working hours for step link replacing operations, and also to improve the safety of an operator. All steps of an escalator are removed, and likewise a landing plate of a lower machine room is removed away, while a guide rail device 30 is set up in a range from an inner rail of the lower machine room to a landing, and a dummy shaft 24 is attached to both ends of a disconnected step link 22, then this step link 22 at the side of the inner rail 7 is placed on the guide rail device 30, drawing this step link 22 up to a holding guide rail 90 on the landing and this drawn step link 22 is replaced with a new step link, restoring it the original position, whereby both ends of the step link 22 are connected to each other and the endless-form step link 22 is operated up to the next replacement position and it is stopped. These operations are repeated, replacing all step links 22, and thus the old step links 22 replaced are all removed away.
