Abstract

A method for abrading bristle ends of a brush in which distal ends of a plurality of fibrous bristles implanted in a brush head are each formed into a tapered configuration gradually sharpened towards the distal ends; wherein one pair of cylindrical wire brushed (1), (2) whose directions of rotation are different from each other are arranged in the form of one set, plural sets of the wire brushes (1), (2) are arranged at prescribed locations in a direction of the movement of a toothbrush such that the fibrous bristles of the brush (6) are gradually increased in contacting depth with the wire brushes (1), (2), the toothbrush (6) is gradually moved in the longitudinal direction of the wire brushes (1), (2) with the distal ends of the fibrous bristles contacted with the rotating wire brushes (1), (2) while planarly rotating the toothbrush (6) on the wire brushes (1), (2), and each set of the wire brushes (1), (2) is swung in a generally perpendicular direction to the direction of the movement of the toothbrush (6) to abrade the distal ends of the fibrous bristles.
