Abstract

A polished stainless steel sheet having excellent stain removability characterized that a Cr, Si, Al and Fe atomic concentration ratio contained in an oxide film on the surface of the stainless steel sheet; (Cr+Si+Al)/Fe is more than 0.4, and also having an average surface roughness Ra is less than 0.3 μm in the perpendicular direction to the polished direction. A method for producing a polished stainless steel sheet having excellent stain removability characterized by performing a mechanical polishing to obtain an average surface roughness Ra is less than 0.3 μm in the perpendicular direction to the polished direction, then carrying out a bright annealing with a specified condition of annealing temperature and a dew point in a specified annealing atmosphere.
