Abstract

A method of recovery of carboxylic acids from a dilute aqueous solution thereof with a concentration below about 10% by weight, selected the carboxylic acid from acids and the mixture of carbon numbering from 1 to 7 in the following steps: passing the dilute acid solution through a reverse osmosis separator, producing a permeate substantially free of acid and a retentate having an acid concentration above 10% by weight; processing the retentate in a step of separation of acids by having liquid extractor for acids in contact with the retentate for production of an acid-rich extractate and an acid-free raffinate for the recovery of the acid from the acid-rich extractate.
