Abstract

A halogenobenzimidazole of the formula: (I) or its acid addition salts and metal salt complexes, in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently represent hydrogen, halogen, C1-6 alkoxy or -Z-R5, in which R5 represents phenyl or pyridyl which is optionally substituted by halogenated C1-6 alkyl; Z represents O or S, or R1 and R2, or R2 and R3, or R3 and R4, in each case, forms an alkylene group containing 3 or 4 carbon atoms, in which one or two (non-adjacent) carbon atoms can be substituted by an oxygen atom, which is optionally substituted by a halogen; A represents one of the following groups: -SO2R8 or (group) in which Y represents oxygen or sulfur; and R8, R10 and R11 independently represent C1-6 alkyl, C1-6 alkoxy, C2-6 alkenyl, di(C1-6) alkylamino, phenyl which is optionally substituted by halogenated C1-6 alkyl, NO2, saturated or un-saturated 5-member heterocyclic group containing at least two hetero atoms selected from N, O and S which is optionally substituted by C1-6 alkyl, halogen, C1-6 alkoxy, NH2 or C1-6 alkoxycarbonyl, or piperidinyl; and X represents halogen.
