Abstract

A method to use chitin and chitosan as starch agent for warping comprises the following process. Decompose the shell of shrimp or crab to get chitin and chitosan as the raw material for warpingstarch. Through the inorganic acid hydrolysis process to adjust its polymerism, and then through the NaOH hydrolysis process to take away the acetyl and get the co-polymer. According to the concentration of the acid and alkali, reaction temperature, reaction time to control the molecular weight and structure of the product, thus to produce starch material for different kinds of yarn. The process to control the material's polymerism is dip the chitin in the HCl or SO2 with 1 ~ 10N concentration; heat to 40 ~ 60 deg.C and stir several hours; filter out the acid liquid and use water to clean the solid into neutrality and dry out to get a suitable polymerism. The process to control the polymerism of the starch material is pouring the chitin into the NaOH solution with 40 ~ 50 concentration. Heat to 80 ~ 120 deg.C and stir several hours; solid without alkali liquid is then clean to neutrality and dry out. Repeat the process in same reaction condition several time to get the polymer for starch material.
