Abstract

A method and an apparatus for sensing a pollution level of a dustcloth of a wet cleaner. The apparatus comprises a dustcloth sensing circuit for sensing presence of the dustcloth in the cleaner, a dust sensing circuit for sensing an amount of dust sucked in the cleaner and generating a square wave signal corresponding to the sensed amount of dust, a microcomputer for checking the amount of dust sensed by the dust sensing circuit upon the presence of the dustcloth in the cleaner, counting the cleaning time, calculating a pollution index on the basis of the checked amount of dust and the counted cleaning time and comparing the calculated pollution index with pollution reference data stored therein at an interval of a predetermined time period, and a display unit for displaying a polluted state of the dustcloth under a control of the microcomputer when the pollution index is greater than or equal to the pollution reference data. The microcomputer divides the cleaning time by the predetermined time period and stores the pollution reference data therein every the divided timeperiod. The microcomputer powers compulsorily of the cleaner if the user still performs the cleaning with the polluted dustcloth even after the lapse of another predetermined time period from a point of time that the polluted state of the dustcloth is displayed.
