Description

Display device

The present invention relates to a display device; specifically, the present invention relates to a display device in which a circuit unit is bent to the back side of a display panel.

Flat and curved display devices have been widely used in various electronic devices, such as mobile phones, personal wearable devices, televisions, host computers for transportation, personal computers, digital cameras, handheld video games, and the like. However, with the continuous improvement of specifications such as resolution, narrow bezel, and thinness, the design of the mechanism in the display device has also been tested.

Taking the liquid crystal display device as an example, in recent years, it has been required to achieve the appearance effect of a narrow frame or even a frame, so it needs to be adjusted for the traditional mechanism design. For example, a conventional liquid crystal display panel has one side connected to another substrate carrying a circuit element via a flexible circuit board for signal transmission and processing. However, under the design requirements of narrow frame or no frame, the flexible circuit board and the connected substrate need to be folded back to the back of the backlight module of the liquid crystal display panel and hidden. However, this setting often increases the overall thickness of the module, and cannot meet the demand for thinning.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a display device that can meet the visual requirements of narrow or no bezel.

An object of the present invention is to provide a display device which can reduce the overall module thickness.

One of the objectives of the present invention is to provide a display device, which can provide good structural support to the circuit unit bent to the back side of the display panel.

The display device includes a display panel, a backlight module, and a circuit unit. The display panel has a back side; the back side has an end edge. The backlight module faces the back side. The backlight module includes a casing and a bracket. On a projection plane parallel to the back side, the casing is not overlapped with the end edge, and an accommodation space is formed between the casing and the end edge. The bracket extends at least partially from the shell toward the end edge and projects into the accommodation space.

The circuit unit has a first terminal and a second terminal. The first end is connected to the display panel; the second end faces the back side because the circuit unit is bent. The second end extends into the accommodation space and is connected to the bracket. The bracket is located between the back side of the display panel and the second end of the circuit unit. With this design, at least part of the circuit unit can be accommodated in the accommodating space to reduce the thickness of the overall module, and stable structural support can be obtained.

The present invention provides a display device, which can be, for example, a non-spontaneous display panel such as a liquid crystal display panel or an electrophoretic display panel; and can be applied to, for example, a computer monitor, a television, a monitor, or a vehicle host. In addition, the display device can also be applied to other electronic devices, for example, as a display screen of a mobile phone, a digital camera, a handheld game instrument, and the like. However, it is not limited to this, and can be adjusted according to needs.

111。 FIG. 1 is a perspective view of components of a display device according to an embodiment of the present invention. In order to facilitate understanding, FIG. 1 deliberately enlarges the pitches of the display panel 100, the backlight module 300, and the circuit unit 500. FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view taken along the line AA of the embodiment shown in FIG. 1. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the display device 10 includes a display panel 100, a backlight module 300, and a circuit unit 500. The display panel 100 is, for example, a liquid crystal display panel and has a back side surface 110; the back side surface 110 has an end edge 111.

The backlight module 300 is disposed to face the back side surface 110 of the display panel 100, and generates light to enter the display panel 100 through the back side surface 110. As shown in FIG. 2, the backlight module 300 includes a casing 310 and a bracket 330. In this embodiment, for example, the backlight module 300 has a direct-type design, and a plurality of light sources 350 facing the back side 110 are arranged on the casing 310. However, in different embodiments, the backlight module 300 may also be designed in an edge-light type or other possible types, without being limited to the edge-light design. In addition, in this embodiment, the casing 310 is made of, for example, metal, and a support frame 320 made of, for example, a plastic material may be further provided in the casing 310, but it is not limited thereto. In different embodiments, the casing 310 may also be made of plastic material or a combination of both materials.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the housing 310 is not overlapped with the end edge 111 on the projection plane 200 parallel to the back side 110, and an accommodation space 400 is formed between the housing 310 and the end edge 111. The projection plane 200 may be any virtual or solid plane that is parallel to the back side 110, and may also be an extension plane of the solid plane. For example, the projection plane 200 may be an extension plane of the front side 130 of the display panel 100 opposite to the back side 110. When the casing 310 and the end edge 111 generate the casing projection range 210 and the end edge projection range 220 on the projection plane 200 respectively, the end edge projection range 220 will fall outside the casing projection range 210. In other words, the projection range of the accommodating space 400 on the projection plane 200 is between the end edge projection range 220 and the side of the housing projection range 210 adjacent to the end edge projection range 220.

The bracket 330 extends at least partially from the housing 310 toward the end edge 111 and projects into the accommodation space 400. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the housing 310 may have a side wall 311 facing the accommodation space 400. The bracket 330 extends from the side wall 311 and extends into the accommodation space 400 in a direction substantially parallel to the back side 110. In an embodiment, the bracket 330 may be integrally formed with the casing 310, for example, formed by bending from the side wall 311 or other parts of the casing 310 or cutting and then bending, but not limited thereto.

The circuit unit 500 may be provided with a circuit element 550 and connected to a line signal on the display panel 100 for signal transmission and / or processing. As shown in FIG. 2, the circuit unit 500 has a first end 501 and a second end 502 opposite to each other. The first end 501 is connected to the display panel 100. In an embodiment, the front side 130 has a circuit connection area 131, and the first end 501 of the circuit unit 500 can be structurally connected and / or signal connected to the circuit connection area 131, but is not limited thereto. As shown in FIG. 2, the second end 502 of the circuit unit 500 faces the back side surface 110 because the circuit unit 500 is bent. In this embodiment, since the first end 501 is connected to the front side 130 of the display panel 100, the circuit unit 500 will bypass the end edge 111 and bend the second end 502 to the back side 130 after being bent. In addition, the second end 502 extends into the accommodating space 400 and is connected to the bracket 330. The second end 502 can be connected to the bracket 330 by different connection methods such as locking, sticking, welding, and engaging. The bracket 330 is located between the back side 110 of the display panel 100 and the second end 502 of the circuit unit 500, and supports the second end 502 of the circuit unit 500 from the circuit unit 500 toward one side of the back side 130. With this design, at least a part of the circuit unit 500 can be accommodated in the accommodating space 400 to reduce the thickness of the overall module, and stable structural support can be obtained.

In this embodiment, on the projection plane 200, as shown in FIG. 1, the vertical projection ranges of the housing 310 and the second end 502 of the circuit unit 500 do not overlap. As shown in FIG. 2, the side wall 311 of the casing 310 and the second end 502 of the circuit unit 500 can be arranged side by side.

In this embodiment, the circuit unit 500 may include a flexible transmission line 510 and a circuit substrate 530. The flexible transmission line 510 may be, for example, a flexible circuit board (FPC), and one end thereof is connected to the display panel 100 as a first end 501. The circuit substrate 530 is connected to the other end of the flexible transmission line 510 opposite to the display panel 100. The circuit substrate 530 is the second end 502 of the circuit unit 500 as a whole. The circuit substrate 530 is, for example, a printed circuit board with a relatively high hardness, such as a flexible transmission line 510. A plurality of circuit elements 550 are formed thereon for signal processing or transmission. In an embodiment, the circuit element 550 may be an integrated integrated circuit, such as a timing control built-in driver circuit (TCON Embedded Driver), to reduce the area required for the circuit substrate 530, so that the circuit substrate 530 can be easily and completely accommodated in the capacitor. Inside the space 400. As shown in FIG. 2, all or at least part of the circuit substrate 530 is located in the accommodating space 400 and is connected to the bracket 330, and may be supported by the bracket 330. In this embodiment, the circuit substrate 530 is connected to the bracket 330 in a screw-locking manner, but is not limited thereto.

FIG. 3 shows a modified embodiment of the display device shown in FIG. 2. In this embodiment, the circuit element 550 is directly carried by the flexible transmission line 510, so the two ends of the flexible transmission line 510 are the first end 501 and the second end 502, respectively, and are connected to the display panel 100 and Bracket 330. The flexible transmission line 510 carries at least one circuit element 550. The circuit element 550 is disposed on the second end 502 and is at least partially received in the accommodation space 400 to reduce the overall thickness.

FIG. 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another embodiment of a display device. In this embodiment, the backlight module 300 is of a side-light design, so a light source 350 and a light guide plate 370 are provided in the housing 310. The light sources 350 are, for example, distributed along one side of the housing 310 adjacent to the end edge 111, but are not limited thereto. The light guide plate 370 may be disposed in the casing 310 parallel to the back side surface 110, and the light sources 350 are distributed along one side of the light guide plate 370. In one embodiment, the light source 350 may be a light emitting diode element, a linear light source, or other light sources. The linear light source may be, for example, a light source device formed by directly aligning light emitting diode wafers on a long substrate and directly covering a wavelength conversion material. With this design, the volume required to install the light source 350 in the backlight module 300 can be reduced, and the accommodation space 400 can be correspondingly enlarged.

As shown in FIG. 4, the casing 310 has an upper cover plate 317. The upper cover plate 317 is connected to one end of the side wall 311 closer to the back side surface 110 and extends in a direction away from the accommodation space 400. The upper cover plate 317 has a top surface 315 facing the back side surface 110. The top surface 315 preferably directly or indirectly supports the back side surface 110, but is not limited thereto. The light source 350 is arranged in a strip-shaped area surrounded by the upper cover plate 317 and the side wall 311, and the upper cover plate 317 is provided between the light source 350 and the back side 110 to block and / or guide the light emitted by the light source 350. lead. In this embodiment, the bracket 330 extends from the middle section of the side wall 311 and projects into the accommodation space 400. Specifically, as can be seen in the three-dimensional schematic diagram shown in FIG. 5, a lug shape can be cut from the bottom of the housing 310, leaving a portion connected to the side wall 311, and then bent relative to the connection position with the side wall 311. Folded to form a bracket 330 protruding into the accommodation space 400. In addition, as shown in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the bracket 330 can preferably be made by stepping back and forth to adjust the gap between the second end 502 and the back side 110 of the circuit unit 500, but not this Limited.

FIG. 6 shows another embodiment of a display device. In this embodiment, the bracket 330 has a connection end 331 that extends between the top surface 315 and the back surface 110 and is supported by the top surface 315. The top surface 315 may be, for example, one surface of the upper cover plate 317 of the casing 310 facing the back side surface 110; however, in different embodiments, the top surface 315 may also be one surface of the other support frame facing the back side surface 110. In this embodiment, the bracket 330 can be completely adhered to the back surface 110 by an adhesive layer to provide better protection of the back surface 110 and increase the strength of the display panel 100. However, in different embodiments, the bracket 330 may only partially fit the back side 110. For example, the bracket 330 may be bent at a portion other than the connecting end 331 to leave a gap with the back side 110 to provide a buffer space. In addition, in this embodiment, the bracket 330 is preferably formed in a long sheet shape, and is arranged along the edge 111 to increase the contact area with the back side 110, the top surface 315, and / or the circuit unit 500 to strengthen the structure. stability.

As shown in FIG. 6, in this embodiment, since there is no gap between the bracket 330 and the back side 110, the circuit unit 500, for example, adheres one side of the bracket 330 facing away from the back side 110 in a fitting manner to complete the connection.

FIG. 7 shows a modified embodiment of the embodiment shown in FIG. 6. In this embodiment, the buffer material 700 is further disposed between the bracket 330 and the back side 110, and is connected to the bracket 330 and the back side 110 respectively. The buffer material 700 is formed in a layered shape, and is, for example, completely adhered or coated on the back surface 110. One side of the bracket 330 facing the back side 110 is adhered to the other side of the cushioning material 700 to indirectly adhere to the back side 110. By providing the buffer material 700, the display panel 100 can be better protected and the structural strength can be increased.

FIG. 8 is another embodiment of a display device. In this embodiment, the housing 310 has a bottom surface 313 opposite to the top surface 315 in addition to the top surface 315 and the side wall 311.
