Abstract

A power adapting box and a fan module are provided. The power adapting box includes a box body, a plurality of first power adapters, an expansion socket and a plurality of second power adapters. The box body has a plurality of positioning holes. The first power adapters are disposed in the box body. The expansion socket is detachably disposed in the box body. The expansion socket has a plurality of positioning pillars. When the expansion socket is disposed in the box body, each of the positioning pillars is inserted into one of the positioning holes. Description

Power transfer box and fan module

The invention relates to a power adapter box and a fan module, and more particularly to a power adapter box having a docking station and a fan module mounted with the power adapter box.

Many companies, government agencies, or service providers have a variety of servers (for example, computing servers, storage servers, network servers, etc.). In general, the servo generates a large amount of thermal energy during operation. If the thermal energy is not effectively removed and accumulated on the electronic components, the electronic components may be damaged due to the rising temperature. Therefore, a plurality of fans are usually installed in the server for heat dissipation. In the prior art, a plurality of fans are mounted in a casing, and a power transfer box is disposed under the casing to transfer the fan power to the motherboard by using the power transfer box.

In general, the power transfer box contains a box and eight power adapters. Eight power adapters are fixed in the case. In other words, the power transfer box needs to be assembled with eight power adapters at a time. However, when the number of fans installed in the server is less than eight, one or more power adapters are idle. Since the number of power adapters in the power transfer box cannot be adjusted according to actual needs, it is less flexible in use and increases manufacturing costs.

The invention provides a power adapter box with a docking station and a fan module with the power adapter box installed to solve the above problems.

According to an embodiment, the power adapter box of the present invention comprises a box body, a plurality of first power adapters, a docking station and a plurality of second power adapters. The box has a plurality of positioning holes. The first power adapter is disposed in the casing. The docking station is detachably disposed in the casing. The docking station has a plurality of positioning posts. When the docking station is disposed in the casing, each of the positioning pillars is inserted into one of the positioning holes. The second power adapter is disposed in the docking station.

According to another embodiment, the fan module of the present invention includes a housing, a plurality of fans, and a power transfer box. The fan is disposed in the housing. The power transfer box is disposed on one side of the housing. The power transfer box includes a box body, a plurality of first power adapters, a docking station, and a plurality of second power adapters. The box has a plurality of positioning holes. The first power adapter is disposed in the casing. The docking station is detachably disposed in the casing. The docking station has a plurality of positioning posts. When the docking station is disposed in the casing, each of the positioning pillars is inserted into one of the positioning holes. The second power adapter is disposed in the docking station.

In summary, since the expansion seat of the present invention is detachably disposed in the casing, the user can remove the expansion base from the casing when the number of power adapters in the casing is sufficient. On the contrary, when the number of power adapters in the box is insufficient, the user can set the docking station in the box to expand the number of power adapters. Thereby, the flexibility of using the power transfer box can be effectively improved.

As shown in FIG. 1 , the fan module 1 includes a power adapter box 10 , a housing 12 , and a plurality of fans 14 . In practical applications, the fan module 1 can be disposed in a server, a computer, or other electronic device to dissipate heat by using the fan 14. The fan 14 is disposed in the housing 12, and the power adapter box 10 is disposed on one side of the housing 12. The power transfer box 10 is used to transfer the power of the fan 14 to a motherboard (not shown) in a server, computer or other electronic device. It should be noted that the number of the fans 14 can be determined according to the actual application, and is not limited to the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 .

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, the power transfer box 10 includes a case 100, a plurality of first power adapters 102, a docking station 104, and a plurality of second power adapters 106. The first power adapter 102 is disposed in the casing 100. The docking station 104 is detachably disposed in the casing 100. The second power adapter 106 is disposed in the docking station 104. It should be noted that the number of the first power adapter 102 and the second power adapter 106 may be determined according to an actual application, and is not limited to the embodiments illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 4. As shown in FIG. 4 to FIG. 7 , the casing 100 can have a plurality of positioning holes 108 , and the expansion base 104 can have a plurality of positioning posts 110 , wherein the number and position of the positioning holes 108 and the positioning posts 110 correspond to each other. When the docking station 104 is disposed in the casing 100, each of the positioning pillars 110 is inserted into one of the positioning holes 108. Thereby, the box body 100 and the docking station 104 can be positioned by the cooperation of the positioning holes 108 and the positioning post 110 when assembled.

In addition, the case 100 can have a plurality of first hooks 112. When the docking station 104 is disposed in the casing 100, the first hook 112 is engaged with the sidewall of the docking station 104 to fix the docking station 104 in the casing 100. In this embodiment, the first hook 112 can be an elastic cantilever extending from the bottom of the case 100. The expansion seat 104 can be removed from the casing 100 by the user pulling the first hook 112 and disengaging the first hook 112 from the side wall of the expansion base 104. In this embodiment, the case 100 can have a plurality of second hooks 118. The second hook 118 is used for clamping and fixing the first extension cable 114 of the first power adapter 102. At least one of the second hooks 118 may be located between the first hook 112 and one of the side walls 1000 of the case 100 according to the wiring requirements of the first patch cord 114. In other words, the present invention can hide at least a portion of the first power adapter 114 of the first power adapter 102 between the first hook 112 and the sidewall 1000 of the casing 100 to prevent the first power adapter 102 from being removed.
