Abstract

A wound care tape includes a sterile high-stretch strip of woven material having a first face and an opposed second face. A sterile adhesive is on the first face in a discontinuous pattern, whereby a set of spaced apart adhesive-covered portions of the first face are covered by the adhesive, and a set of spaced apart adhesive-free portions of the first face are free of the adhesive.

Description

Wound care kit and tape and use, and wound treatment method

The content of this case is about wound care. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to wound care tapes, methods of using wound care tapes, and kits comprising wound care tapes.

U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 2013/0334084 (Arbesman), the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entire entire entire entire entire entire entire entire entire entire entire entire disclosure The tape has a fixing portion that can be adhered to the wound portion, and a plurality of branch portions that protrude from the fixing portion. The following review is intended to introduce the reader to the content of the case, but does not define any invention.

Reveal the wound care kit according to some aspects. The kit includes a package with an internal volume that is sealed and sterilized. The wound care tape is inside the internal volume. The strip of woven material can include a pair of adjacent vanes. The tape is generally in the shape of a double line.

The kit can include a plurality of wound care tapes, within the package, and a release liner that can be adhered to a plurality of wound care tapes. The release liner can be perforated along the boundary between each pair of adjacent wound care tapes. Multiple wound care tapes can be placed in a grid on the release liner.

The elongate woven material can have an unstretched length and can elastically stretch to an extended length of at least 1.4 times the unstretched length or at least 1.5 times the unstretched length.

Reveal wound care tape in accordance with certain gist. The wound care tape comprises a sterilizing highly stretchable strip of woven material having a first side and an opposite second side. The tape can be applied to the skin for at least 7 days. The tape can be applied to the skin for at least 7 to 14 days.

Tapes for treating wounds and for treating wounds are also provided. Tape can be used to treat wounds. The wound can be an acute wound. The wound can be a surgical incision. The tape can be used in combination with sutures, and/or in combination with skin glue. In addition, the tape can be used alone, without the use of skin glue or sutures.

According to some key points, the treatment of wounds is revealed. The method further includes applying a suture to the wound prior to step (a) and/or applying a skin glue to the wound. In addition, a highly stretchable strip of woven material can be applied without the need to apply any suture and skin glue first.

The highly stretchable strip woven material can be a bactericide. For example, prior to step (a), the highly stretchable strip of woven material is sterilized.

This case is disclosed as a wound care tape (or simply "tape"), and related kits and methods. The wound care tape disclosed in this case relates to kinesiology tapes. However, it is believed that the intramuscular adhesive tape has not been directly used for breaking skin for wound care. This means that intramuscular tape is traditionally used on undamaged skin to treat conditions associated with muscles, joints and/or bruises. Previously known publications cautioned against the use of intramuscular tape at the dermatome, as it was believed at that time that the application of intramuscular tape to the skin would cause extensive muscle tissue damage (Stockheimer, 2007). Therefore, in the rare case of using intramuscular tape for wound treatment, a gasket is carefully used between the intramuscular tape and the wound (Oka, 2010).

It has been determined that the intramuscular adhesive tape can be directly used for wound care in broken skin. For example, the intramuscular tape is cut into a suitable shape and, after sterilization, can be applied directly to the wound to keep the wound closed. It has been determined that the use of bactericidal intramuscular tape for wound care directly at the dermatome does not necessarily result in damage to muscle tissue, such as extensive muscle tissue damage referred to in the prior art. It has also been determined that it is beneficial to use the bactericidal muscle internal effect tape directly for wound care at the broken skin, which can prolong the time application, can promote or facilitate the cure, the doctor is easy to use, and the patient is comfortable.

Referring to Figures 1 through 3, an embodiment of a wound care tape 100 is shown. In the illustrated embodiment, the wound care tape 100 is made of an intramuscular tape (ie, cut) comprising a highly stretchable strip of woven material (hereinafter referred to as "stripe 102") having an adhesive 108 thereon.

The woven material may be cotton in some embodiments. The use of woven materials makes the tape breathable, and it is believed to be convenient and/or to promote wound healing, and it is believed that the patient will be comfortable.

As described above, the strips 102 can be highly stretchable. The term "highly stretchable" as used herein means that the strip 102 is highly stretchable in at least one direction. For example, the strips can be highly stretchable along their length. For example, the strip 102 has an unstretched length 115 and is elastically stretchable to a length that is at least 1.4 times the unstretched length 115 or at least 1.5 times the unstretched length 115. The strip 102 can additionally be highly stretchable along its width, or minimally stretchable or non-stretchable along its width. The term "lowest" stretch means that the strip 102 is stretchable along its width but not as long as it is along its length. "No stretch" means that the strip 102 does not stretch along its width, or the stretch along its width can be ignored.

The strip 102 has a first side 104 (shown in Figure 2) that, when in use, faces the patient's skin, and opposes the second side 106 (as shown in Figure 1).

Referring to Figure 2, in the illustrated embodiment, the adhesive 108 is on the first side and is not connected. Continued style. Referring to Fig. 3, the first side 104 includes a collection of the adhesive covering portion 110 (i.e., a portion covered by the adhesive) and a non-adhesive portion 112 (i.e., a portion free of adhesive to expose the first surface). This allows the tape 100 to stretch even if it has been adhered to the skin. Still referring to Figures 2 and 3, in the illustrated embodiment, the adhesive cover portion 110 and the non-adhesive portion 112 are disposed in an alternating pattern, so that the adhesive covering portions 110 are spaced apart from each other without the adhesive portion 112. Still referring to FIG. 2, the tape 100 extends along the longitudinal axis 114 and at least some of the adhesive-free portion 112 can extend parallel to the longitudinal axis 114. Additionally, at least some of the non-adhesive portion 112 does not extend perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. For example, the non-adhesive portion can be curved and can generally extend obliquely relative to the longitudinal axis 114. This allows the tape 100 to stretch and/or move in both the length and width directions (and in addition to the length and width components) even if adhered to the skin. In the illustrated embodiment, the adhesive cover portion 110 and the non-adhesive portion 112 are disposed in a curved band, arranged in an alternating pattern, and generally extend obliquely relative to the longitudinal axis.

Adhesive 108 can be any suitable skin safety adhesive, such as polyacrylic adhesive (commonly known as acrylic adhesive). The adhesive 108 is durable, allowing the wound care tape to be applied to the skin for extended periods of time. For example, it can be applied to the skin for at least 7 days. As another example, the tape can be applied to the skin for 7 to 14 days.

Still referring to FIG. 2, in the illustrated embodiment, the tape 100 does not contain an absorbent pad adjacent the first side 104. That is, no absorbent pad is provided as part of the tape 100. When the tape 100 is applied to the wound, the strips 102 and the glue 108 can be applied directly to the skin and can be in contact with the wound. It has been determined that regardless of prior art cautiousness, this does not necessarily result in damage to muscle tissue.

Wound care tape can be used in a variety of shapes. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the strip 102 includes a pair of adjacent vanes 116, so that the tape 100 has a generally double line or a figure of eight. It has been determined that this shape is particularly useful for wound closure, is easy and convenient to be administered by a physician, is comfortable for the patient, and can remain in the wound for extended periods of time (e.g., up to 7 days or longer), thereby facilitating and/or promoting wound healing.

Figure 4 shows a modified shape wound care tape 400. The tape 400 includes a central fixing portion 402 with a branch portion 404 extending from the opposite side of the fixing portion 402. The branch portions 404 are arranged in pairs on opposite sides of the fixed portion. This shape is also referred to as an X shape, and as the tape is applied (described in detail below in Figures 15 and 16), adjacent branches can be separated from each other to form the tape 400 in an X shape.

Wound care tape can also be used in a variety of shapes. In some embodiments, the strip 102 has an unstretched length 115 of between about 2.5 and 7.5 centimeters, or between about 4 and 6 centimeters, or about 5 centimeters. In some embodiments, the unstretched length of the strip 402 is between about 4.5-25 centimeters, or between about 6-21 centimeters. In some particular embodiments, the strip 402 is about 6.5 cm in length. In some particular embodiments, the strip 402 has a length of about 11 cm. In some particular embodiments, the length of the strip 402 can be about 20.5 cm.

Referring to Figures 5 and 6, the tape 100 can be disposed on the release liner 118. The release liner 118 can be adhered to the first side 104 using the adhesive 108. The release liner 118 can be perforated along the boundary 120 of the blade 116 to facilitate the application of the blade to the skin. For example, the release liner 118 can be torn along the boundary 120, causing the release liner portion of the blade 102 to be detached from the strip 102. The blade 116 can be applied to the skin adjacent to the wound. The remaining release pad portion can be detached from the other blade 116 while the other blade 116 is applied to the skin adjacent to the wound.

Referring to Figure 7, in some embodiments, a plurality of tapes 100 can be provided, and a common release liner 122 can be adhered to the plurality of tapes 100. The tape 100 can be disposed in a grid on the release liner 122, and the release liner 122 can be perforated along the boundary 124 between adjacent pairs of tapes 100.

As noted above, the disclosed tapes (e.g., tapes 100 and/or 400) can be sterilized. For example, both the strip 102 and the adhesive 108 are sterilized to be suitable for breaking the skin. Referring to Figures 8 and 9, in some embodiments, the tape 100 can be disposed within a kit, including a package 126 having a sealed and sterilized interior volume 128 with an adhesive tape 100 and a release liner 118 therein. . Package 126 can be a pharmaceutical grade tear open bag. The package 126, along with the tape 100 and the release liner 118 sealed within the interior volume 128, may be sterilized by steam sterilization in some embodiments. The package 126 is opened immediately before the tape 100 is used.

In an alternate embodiment, the plurality of wound care tapes 100 can be provided in a single package. For example, the release liner 122 and the plurality of tapes 100 shown in Fig. 6 can be provided in a sealed sterilization package.

The wound care tape described above can be used in a variety of wounds, including but not limited to acute wounds (eg due to accidents), surgical incisions (eg burn or scar reconstruction), small wounds (eg small cuts), large wounds, skin flaps (eg natural or transdermal), and new wounds. Wound care tape can be used alone, plus sutures, or with a skin adhesive, depending on the severity of the wound. For example, for some wounds, the wound care tape can be used alone, without the use of skin adhesives or sutures. In still other embodiments, for other wounds, the wound care tape can be used in conjunction with sutures and/or skin adhesives. For example, the suture and/or skin adhesive can be applied prior to application of the tape.

The wound care tape is generally applied in an extended state so that the tape elasticity helps to keep the wound closed and supports the skin surrounding the wound.

An example of a method of using a wound care tape is described. For the sake of simplicity, reference is primarily made to the wound care tape 100; however, the method can also be performed with other tapes (e.g., tape 400), and the tape 100 can be applied by other methods.

Referring to Fig. 10, there is shown a body portion 1000 having a wound 1002. The wound 1002 can be, for example, an acute wound. In the illustrated embodiment, the wound is sutured with suture 1004 prior to use of any tape 100. A set of wound care tape 100 can be applied to the wound 1002 prior to the suture 1004 to help keep the wound 1002 closed and support the skin surrounding the wound 1002.

For example, referring to FIG. 11, when each wound care tape 100 is applied, the first blade 116a of the strip 102 can be first adhered to the patient's skin on the first side 1006 of the wound 1002. The first blade 116a of the skin can be pressed against the first side 1006 of the wound 1002 to cause the adhesive coating portion 110 on the first blade 116a (also referred to as the "first collection" of the adhesive coating portion, on pages 11-13). Referring to Figure 12, the strip 102 can be stretched across the wound to an extended state. For example, the strip 102 can be stretched in the lengthwise direction to about 1.4 times its unstretched length, or about 1.5 times its unstretched length.

Referring to Fig. 13, the second blade 116b of the strip 102 is adhered to the patient's skin at the second side 1008 of the wound 1002. As shown in Figures 11-13, when the tape 100 is applied, an absorbent pad may not be applied between the strip 102 and the wound 1002. That is, the first blade 116a is adhered to the skin, the strip 102 is stretched, and the second blade 116b is adhered to the skin, and the absorbent pad is not applied between the strip 102 and the wound 1002.

Referring to Figure 14, the steps shown in Figures 11-13 are repeated with another tape 100 (e.g., repeated with the second to fourth tapes), so that a set of tapes 100 is applied to the wound. For the sake of simplicity, the steps described in Figures 11 through 13 will not be repeated for additional tape.

The tape 100 may remain adhered to the patient's skin as the case may be until the suture 1004 is removed. For example, the tape 100 can remain adhered to the patient's skin for at least 7 days, such as 7 to 14 days.

In the particular example described with reference to Figures 11-14, each tape 100 is applied with its longitudinal axis 114 (one of which is shown in Figure 14) extending generally perpendicular or across the wound 1002. In an alternate embodiment, one or more tapes are applied such that the longitudinal axis is generally parallel to the wound. For example, referring to Fig. 15, the adhesive tape 400 described in Fig. 4 has been applied to the wound with its longitudinal axis 414 parallel to the wound 1002. For still further embodiments, see Fig. 16, a set of tapes 400 have been applied to the wound 1002 such that the longitudinal axis 414a of the first set of tapes 400a, parallel to the wound 1002, and the longitudinal axis 414b of the second set of tapes 400b, and the wound 1002 vertical. In other words, some of the tape 400 is applied in a traverse direction relative to the other tapes 400. In this embodiment, the tape 400 is applied in a repetitive manner such that at least a portion of each of the tapes 400 overlaps at least a portion of the other tape 400. More specifically, some of the branch portions 404a of the tape 400 overlap with the other tape branch portions 404b (in the Fig. 16, only the partial overlap branches 404a, 404b are labeled).

It is believed that because the adhesive 108 is in a discontinuous pattern on the strip 102, the tape 100 can be stretched and stretched during movement of the patient and thus can remain on the skin for an extended period of time. For example, when the adhesive of the tape 100 is used, it can be stretched and moved in parallel with the longitudinal axis 114, and can also move across the longitudinal axis 114 without peeling off from the skin. It is also believed that because the strip is made of woven material, it is breathable, generally soft and comfortable for the patient.

In any of the above embodiments, a topical application may be applied prior to applying the tape to the skin. This topical application can be used, for example, to protect the skin, to improve the adhesion of the tape, and/or to provide protection Corrosion performance. For example, prior to application of the tape, a benzoin chelating compound can be applied to the skin to protect the skin, improve tape adhesion, and provide specific antiseptic properties. In other embodiments, an antibiotic cream or ointment can be administered.

Although the above embodiments of one or more processes or devices are provided, it is to be understood that other processes or devices may be included within the scope of the appended claims.

Example

The above wound care tape was tested on various wounds as detailed below. The trial was conducted at the Department of Surgery and Plastic Surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Wound care tape was supplied by Spidertech Inc. of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The wound care tape consists of a highly stretchable cotton strip with a polyacrylic acid adhesive on the first side, in a discontinuous pattern (as shown in Figure 2). The tape does not contain an absorbent pad. The tape is 8-shaped (as shown in Figure 1) and X-shaped (as shown in Figure 4). The tape is placed on the release liner in a sealed sterilization package.

Example 1

The wound care tape was tested on several patients, incision, and the resulting wound was initially closed using standard sutures. The wound care tape is applied across the wound and overlaid on the suture in an extended state to facilitate wound closure. In some cases, the wound care tape is retained; in other cases, the wound care tape is covered with gauze. The wound care tape was left on the wound for 14 days and then removed with hospital equipment.

Observed by the resident, the wound care tape remained in place during the trial. It was also observed that the wound care tape did not cause any suppuration and accelerated healing.

Example 2

Wound care tape was tested on several patients with skin flaps (including displaced and rotated flaps). In addition to suturing, the wound care tape is used to secure the skin to the donor's home position. A wound care tape is applied to span the wound in an extended state to facilitate wound closure. The wound care tape was left on the wound for 14 days and then removed at the hospital facility.

Strong success rates and excellent results were recorded by residents. No negative results or complications were recorded.

Example 3

Wound care tapes are tested in patients who require mesh space reconstruction. The web space is created using forward and shifting flaps. In addition to suturing, the wound care tape is used to secure the skin to the donor's home position. The wound care tape is applied to the wound in an extended state to facilitate wound closure. The wound care tape was left in the wound for 14 days and then removed at the hospital facility.

Strong success rates and excellent results were recorded by residents. No negative results or complications were recorded.

Example 4

The wound care tape was tested on the original small incision (up to 1 cm) without any stitching. When the wound care tape is applied, the wound is stretched across the wound to facilitate wound closure.

Excellent cosmetic results and excellent healing are recorded by the resident. No negative results or complications were recorded.
