Description

Backlight module

The present invention relates to a backlight module for use in a display device; in particular, the present invention relates to a backlight module having an optical film positioning mechanism for use in a display device.

FIG. 1 shows a conventional backlight module structure including a plastic frame 10 and an optical film 30. The main function of the optical film 30 is to adjust the optical behavior of the light generated by the lower light source, and the plastic frame 10 is used to carry the optical film 30 or the display panel above the support. The plastic frame 30 is disposed in the retaining wall and supported by the plastic frame 10. In order to fix the relationship between the optical film 30 and the plastic frame 10, an adhesive tape 50 is usually attached to the side of the optical film 30 and the plastic frame 10, or between the optical film 30 and the plastic frame 10. A double-sided tape is provided to prevent the optical film 30 from moving relative to the frame 10.

However, when the backlight module is impacted by an external force, the tape 50 can provide a limited positioning capability. Sometimes the optical film 30 or the plastic frame 10 is separated from the tape 50 by an external force impact, thereby generating a relative displacement. When the optical film 30 and the plastic frame 10 are relatively displaced, the optical taste of the image may be caused, and even local damage may occur.

The object of the present invention is to provide a backlight module, which can improve the positioning reliability between the optical film and the frame.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a backlight module that reduces the chance of relative displacement between optical films.

The backlight module includes a frame, an optical film set, and a fixing ring. The optical film assembly is composed of at least one optical film and is disposed within the frame. The optical film set has a lug portion, and at least one side of the lug portion has a groove. The retaining ring loops the lug portion and at least a portion of the retaining ring engages the recess. Wherein, the frame includes a bearing surface, and the lug portion is supported by the bearing surface.

By the arrangement of the fixing ring, the degree of relative displacement of the optical film relative to the frame can be reduced to increase the product yield and the ability to withstand external impact. In addition, the retaining ring can also increase the integrity of the plurality of optical films within the optical film set, while reducing the likelihood of relative displacement with each other.

The invention provides a backlight module. In one embodiment, the backlight module is used in conjunction with a liquid crystal display panel or other display panel that requires backlighting to generate an image; however, in various embodiments, the backlight module can also be used on other devices that require backlighting.

2A, FIG. 2B and FIG. 3, FIG. 2A is a schematic exploded view of a backlight module according to an embodiment of the present invention; FIG. 2B is a partial enlarged view of FIG. 2A; FIG. 3 is a backlight module according to an embodiment of the present invention; In a side view, the backlight module includes a frame 100, an optical film set 300, and a fixing ring 500. The frame 100 can be made of plastic, but is not limited thereto. In addition, the frame 100 may be formed as a rectangular closed frame, but is not limited thereto. In various embodiments, the frame 100 can also be an open frame such as a U-shaped, L-shaped or in-line support. The frame 100 has a bearing surface 110 that is parallel to the planar direction in which the frame 100 itself is distributed. Moreover, in this embodiment, the frame 100 is formed with a notch 130, and the bearing surface 110 is the bottom surface of the notch 130. However, in various embodiments, the bearing surface 110 can also be formed by the top surface of the upper side wall of the frame 100 rather than the bottom surface of the recessed indentation.

In this embodiment, the optical film set 300 is composed of a plurality of optical films 310 stacked and disposed in the frame 100. The properties of the optical film 310 can be selected as desired. The optional optical film 310 includes, but is not limited to, a diffusion sheet, a brightness enhancement sheet, a reflective brightness enhancement sheet, and the like. In addition, the plurality of optical films 310 in the same optical film group 300 are not limited to films having the same optical properties. sheet. The periphery of the optical film set 300 is surrounded by or corresponding to the frame 100. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the optical film set 300 has one or more lug portions 330 on one side toward the frame 100, and the lug portions 330 are directly or indirectly supported by the bearing faces 110. In other words, the lug portion 330 is placed on the bearing surface 110 and is in direct or indirect contact with the bearing surface 110. The frame 100 is supported by the optical film set 330 by the support of the bearing surface 110 to the lug portion 330. In this embodiment, the optical film set 330 is formed in a rectangular shape, and is provided with lug portions 330 on opposite sides; the frame 110 is also formed as a rectangular frame and the bearing faces 110 are disposed on opposite sides. The frame 110 supports the optical film set 330, and a space is formed below the optical film set 330 to accommodate a light source or a light guide.

For example, as shown in FIG. 2, the lug portions 330 have grooves 350 on both sides thereof, and the two sides may be the two sides of the lug portion 330 extending toward the frame 100. In this embodiment, each of the optical films 310 has lugs 311 at substantially the same position, and the lugs 311 are superposed on each other to form the lug portion 330. As shown in FIG. 2, the space formed by the recess 130 in the frame 100 has an opening 131 toward one side of the optical film group 300, so that the lug portion 330 protrudes from the opening 131 and is disposed on the bearing surface 110.

330。 As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the retaining ring 500 encloses the lug portion 330 and at least a portion of the retaining ring 500 snaps into the recess 350. In this embodiment, the retaining ring 500 is a closed, complete annular structure to surround the lug portion 330. As shown in FIG. 3, the fixing ring 500 has a bottom portion 510 passing through the bottom surface 331 of the lug portion 330, and the bottom portion 510 passes between the bottom surface 331 of the lug portion 330 and the bearing surface 110 of the bezel 100. Since the retaining ring 500 has a certain thickness, in this embodiment, the retaining ring 500 abuts against the bearing surface 110 such that the bearing surface 110 can indirectly support the lug portion 330 via the retaining ring 500.

The retaining ring 500 can be a rectangular ring and has a degree of resilience so that the retaining ring 500 can be extended to allow the lug portion 330 to extend therein; then the retaining ring 500 can be rebounded to be positioned within the recess 350. The inner edge width W 2 of the retaining ring 500 may be between the width W 1 of the lug portion 330 and the distance W 3 between the two side grooves 350. However, in different embodiments, the retaining ring 500 may also be present in a strip or strip structure, and after the lug portion 330 is hung, it may be joined end to end to form a closed loop structure. In addition, in a specific implementation, such as the partial top view of the backlight module of FIG. 4, the thickness T 1 of the fixing ring 500 may not be greater than the depth T 2 of the recess 350 toward the concave portion 330, so the fixing ring 500 passes through the groove. Portions of the 350 can be completely trapped within the recess 350 without protruding the side surfaces of the lug portion 330. In this embodiment, the thickness T 1 of the retaining ring 500 is less than the depth T 2 of the recess 350 toward the recessed portion 330, such that the retaining ring 500 is recessed within the recess 350; however, in various embodiments, the securing The thickness T 1 of the ring 500 is equal to the depth T 2 of the recess 350 toward the lug portion 330 such that the retaining ring 500 is flush with the sides of the lug portion 330. With this arrangement, the width of the notch 130 on the frame 100 does not need to be particularly widened by the arrangement of the fixing ring 500.

In the above embodiment, by the arrangement of the fixing ring 500, the degree of relative displacement of the optical film 310 relative to the frame 100 can be reduced to increase the product yield and the ability to withstand external impact. In addition, the retaining ring 500 can also increase the integrity of the plurality of optical films 310 within the optical film set 300, while reducing the likelihood of relative displacement with each other.

Please refer to FIG. 5. FIG. 5 is another embodiment of the engagement of the lug portion 330 and the fixing ring 500. In the present embodiment, the lug portion 330 is provided with a groove 350 only on a single side; this side is a side of the lug portion 330 extending toward the frame 100. The retaining ring 500 encloses the lug portion 330 and at least a portion of the retaining ring 500 snaps into the recess 350. Compared with the embodiment in which the groove 350 is provided on both sides of the lug portion 330, the embodiment lacks the groove 350 for positioning the fixing ring 500 on one side of the lug portion 330, but in the lug portion 330. When the fixing ring 500 is attached and detached, only one side groove 350 is required. So it is relatively easy.

Please refer to FIG. 6. FIG. 6 is a schematic side view of a backlight module according to another embodiment. A concave first receiving groove 111 may be formed on the bearing surface 110. The first receiving groove 111 can extend along the extending direction of the bottom 510 of the fixing ring 500. When the lug portion 330 is disposed on the bearing surface 110, the bottom portion 510 is received in the first receiving groove 111, so that the bottom surface 331 of the lug portion 330 is substantially in contact with the bearing surface 110, and is the bearing surface 110. Direct support. In addition, by extending the bottom portion 510 into the first receiving groove 111, the limiting effect of the lug portion 330 and the frame body 100 in the direction X of the lug portion 330 extending from the optical film group 300 can also be increased. In this embodiment, the thickness of the bottom portion 510 may also be greater than the thickness of other portions of the stationary ring 500. With this design, the above-mentioned limit effect caused by the interference between the bottom portion 510 and the first accommodating groove 111 can be further enhanced.

FIG. 7 is a partial top plan view of a backlight module of another embodiment. In this embodiment, one side of the notch 130 has a side wall 150 corresponding to one side of the lug portion 330. The side wall 150 has a second accommodating groove 151, and the second accommodating groove 151 can extend along the extending direction of the fixing ring 500 through the convex portion 330 and the corresponding side portion of the side wall 150. When the thickness T 3 of the retaining ring 500 is greater than the recessed depth T 4 of the recess 350 toward the lug portion 330, the partial retaining ring 500 will protrude from the side of the lug portion 330. When the lug portion 330 extends into the notch 130, the protruding portion of the fixing ring 500 at least partially protrudes into the second receiving groove 151. With this arrangement, the positioning effect between the lug portion 330 and the frame 100 can be further enhanced.

As shown in FIG. 8 , FIG. 8 is a partial schematic view of the plastic frame of the backlight module of another embodiment. The second receiving groove 151 of the sidewall 150 and the first receiving groove 111 of the bearing surface 110 can communicate with each other. When the lug portion 330 is disposed on the bearing surface 110, the portion of the fixing ring 500 located at the side of the lug portion 330 and the bottom surface 331 can be embedded in the frame 100. With this setting, In addition to the bit effect, the integrity of the design can be enhanced.

9 is a schematic view of another embodiment of the retaining ring 500 and the optical film set 300; in this embodiment, the retaining ring 500 is a semi-open rather than a closed design. The retaining ring 500 has a break 530, and the retaining ring 500 is provided with a hook 550 corresponding to the inner sides of the two ends of the fracture 530. In other words, the shape of the fixing ring 500 can be similar to a horseshoe shape or a U-shape, and a hook 550 is provided at each end. The setting of the hook 550 and the elasticity of the retaining ring 500 may allow the lug portion 330 to force the hook 550 into the retaining ring 500 and provide sufficient restraining force to increase the resistance of the lug portion 330 to the retaining ring 500. When the lug portion 330 enters the fixing ring 500, it is restricted by the hook 550 and is not easy to escape. In addition, the fixing ring 500 in this example may surround the bottom surface 331 and the two sides of the lug portion 330 such that the lug portion 330 faces the fracture surface 530 opposite to the top surface 333 of the bottom surface 331. In addition, the fracture 530 in this embodiment is not limited to the support surface facing or facing away from the frame (not shown in the figure), and the orientation of the fracture 530 can be adjusted according to the cooperation with the frame.

Figure 10 shows another embodiment of a backlight module. In this embodiment, the optical film set is replaced by a single optical film 310. The properties of the optical film 310 can be selected as desired. The optional optical film 310 includes, but is not limited to, a diffusion sheet, a brightness enhancement sheet, a reflective brightness enhancement sheet, and the like. The arrangement of the remaining frame 100 and the fixed ring 500 are similar to the manner disclosed in the foregoing embodiments or the same mental arrangement. By the arrangement of the fixing ring 500, the degree of relative displacement of the optical film 310 relative to the frame 100 can be reduced to increase the product yield and the ability to withstand external impact.
