Abstract

The present invention relates to anelectrical connector installed on a circuit board by Surface Mounting Technology and mating with a mating connector. The electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a plurality of conductive contacts received in the insulative housing, and a fixing member. The insulative housing has a mating portion extending forwardly. The mating portion defines a receiving slot for receiving the mating connector. Each of the conductive contacts includes a contacting portion exposed to the receiving slot for electrically connecting with the mating connector, and a soldering portion extending parallel to the circuit board. The fixing member is over molding with the conductive contacts.
