頻域考量
起弧會引發非常寬之頻寬範圍內的噪聲。大多數AFCI在高千赫茲(KHz)範圍內尋找起弧,但有研究表明更高頻率(諸如,超過1 MHz)下也存在顯著噪聲。因此,有必要特徵化頻域中之波形。然而,起弧事件在時間上為不連續的;例如,僅在超出起弧電壓之後起弧才會開始,且一旦電壓低於保持電弧所必要之最小值,電弧將熄滅。因此,電弧之寬頻噪聲特性僅在起弧存在之時間框架期間可觀測到,且在電弧熄滅期間就消失。

時域考量
雖然電弧之頻域分析可揭示關於起弧事件之大量資訊,但時域分析對起弧分析而言亦至關重要。由於起弧相對於電源電壓之相位趨於熄滅及再起弧,僅可得大量時域資訊。自20世紀20年代以來已報導電弧建模之努力,文獻中亦有關於電弧建模之演進的廣泛評論。隨著分析工具於過去數十年之發展,此等模型日漸趨於描述性且變得愈加複雜。Kaufman及Page於1960年之研究採用了假設純電感負載及具有一假設值之恆定電弧電壓(對277 V rms系統而言為140 V)之電弧模型。以後之研究增加了複雜阻抗模型,隨後又增加了對作為電弧電流與間隙寬度之函數之電弧電壓的估計。現代電弧建模以Matthews模型(參見J.H. 圖4係代表性及示範性之隔離電路400。隔離電路400可用於在使接地分離之同時傳遞訊號,如圖2之光隔離級208所示。示範性隔離電路400具有輸入級402、前置放大級404、驅動級406及功率輸出級408。輸入級402及前置放大級404經由光耦合器410耦合訊號。光耦合器410提供準確之訊號傳輸,同時允許前置放大級404中之輸入級402依靠獨立電源運作且使用獨立接地。
光耦合器解決方案允許自小於10 Hz至大於10 MHz之訊號頻寬,然而欲使用其他隔離技術(諸如,變壓器)實現此方案,即使可能亦將很困難。
功率輸出級408之接地基準浮動於約60 V交流電壓且可當測試側電源412浮動於電源214訊號時介於+/- 120 V範圍內變化。如上所述,電容耦合驅動級406允許輸出略負。10K ohm可調偏壓電阻器使輸出相對於測試裝置接地212產生偏移。在一實施例中,輸入級402、前置放大級404及驅動級406之電晶體可為2N3904電晶體。
圖5係諸如圖2之可控制負載218之可控制負載500的實施例。可控制負載500可具有一或多個電流級502。在所描繪之實例中,可控制負載218包括三個電流級502a、502b及502c。每一電流級502可包括一或多個電阻器504、506及一對N型FET 508、510。因為可能需要每一電流級502傳遞高達30 A或更高之電流。在本實例中,當FET 508、510充 分啟用時,每級皆具有3 ohm之電阻。所示之具有三個電流級502之實施例中,負載呈現1 ohm之總電阻。由於每一電流級502之電流能力極高,故本示範性設計之1.5 ohm電阻各自的額定功率為5 kW。若需要增加可控制負載500之額定電流,可增加額外之電流級,從而既增加了可用之電流處理能力,亦減少了有效串聯電阻。在本示範性實施例中,FET 508及510可為IXFB 100N50P設備或等效設備。使用此等或類似設備使可控制負載於約1微秒或更短之時間內執行電流改變。
電阻器512藉由使FET柵極電容放電以加快FET之速度。對於一些FET來說,欲達到所要之開關時間並非必須這樣做。受試AFCI設備216可連接至終端514。零線連接516及接地連接518經由隔離電路400與系統接地及電源隔離。電流感測器520可為環形變壓器,且可用於反饋至控制級206及用於將測試資料記錄至資料日誌228。
可藉由簡單調整源電壓波形中各點之可控制負載500的電阻以調節電壓與電流之間的寬泛範圍的相位角。然而,以上所討論之單相裝置無法模擬每一可能之無功負載,因為當源電壓為零時沒有電流可流過AFCI。可藉由使用帶有相移源之可控制負載之組合以模擬全部範圍內之無功負載。
圖6係根據本揭示案之測試電弧故障斷路器(ACFI)216之一個簡化及代表性之方法600。

Claims (20)

  18. 如請求項17之方法,其更包括:經由將該控制級之一接地與該可控制負載之一接地分離的一光隔離級傳遞該控制訊號。
  19. 如請求項17至18中任一項之方法,其中提供該可控制負載包括:提供一可控制負載,其具有至少100 A之一額定電流及介於兩個電流位準之間改變的至少1微秒之一響應時間。
  20. 如請求項17至19中任一項之方法,其中確定該AFCI響應於流經該可控制負載及該AFCI之該電流的方式包括:確定該AFCI中斷具有電弧線圖之電流並傳遞具有干擾負載線圖之電流。
