Abstract
The present invention provides an optical fiber cleaver, which is configured to link with a blade moving operation driven by a blade moving mechanism 28. Each time when a blade 20 is moved from a contact position with an optical fiber to a retracted position, the blade 20 is displaced downward slightly each time along its cutting edge by means of a blade descending mechanism 210, such that the blade 20 may contact with the optical fiber each time with a new cutting edge. Moreover, when the blade 20 is displaced a prescribed amount downward, the displacement above the prescribed amount is limited. By means of limited displacement, the operation of a connecting mechanism 40 connected with the blade moving mechanism 28 and the blade descending mechanism 210 is stopped to limit the blade moving operation. Thus, an operator can firmly recognize the replacement time for the blade 20. As a result, the present invention provides an optical fiber cleaver configured to cleave the optical fiber by bringing a blade into contact with the optical fiber in a state that the optical fiber is positioned in the device body, which may precisely form the cleaving surface for the optical fiber without compromising the economic efficiency.
