Abstract

Disclosed is a polarizing plate (12, 13) wherein a transparent protective film (2) is formed on one side of a polarizer (1) and an adhesive layer (7) and a transparent polymer film (3) are arbitrarily formed on the other side of the polarizer (1) in this order, while having an adhesive layer (6) arranged at the outermost position. The polarizing plate (12, 13) is bonded to an image display device (20) through the adhesive layer (6). This polarizing plate (12, 13) has good durability even under high temperature conditions, and is suppressed in rises and light leakages likely to occur in the end portions of the polarizing plate when the polarizing plate is bonded to the image display device (20) and exposed to a high temperature environment. The polarizing plate (12, 13) is characterized in that the adhesive layer (6), which is arranged at the outermost position of the polarizing plate and bonded to the image display device (20), is composed of a layer having a storage modulus of 0.15-10 MPa at a temperature of 23-80 DEG C. By arranging an adhesive layer having such a high elastic modulus on the outermost position, the polarizing plate can be reduced in thickness and weight, while attaining good durability in a high temperature environment. Also disclosed is an image display device comprising such a polarizing plate.
