Abstract

A ferrule (11) to be mounted on a discharge tube is provided with a metal cylindrical section (12) having an inner diameter wherein a glass tube (4) of the discharge tube can be inserted, a lead connecting section, a fixed aligning protruding section (14) cylindrically formed, and first and second elastic holding sections (15, 16) elastically abut to the outer circumference surface of the glass tube (4). The first and the second elastic holding sections (15, 16) are formed in shapes which can be elastically deformed more easily than the aligning protruding section. The glass tube (4) is accurately arranged at a prescribed position in a cylindrical section (12) of the ferrule (11) by operation of the fixed aligning protruding section (14) and first and second elastic holding sections (15, 16).
