The present invention provides an overload protection device capable of keeping a rotation transmission at cut-off state, preventing the occurrence of vibrations or noises caused by the transmission of pushing force, accurately setting of the activation torque, and maintaining a reliable operation of retention mechanism. The retention mechanism (165) for keeping cut-off during overload in the overload protection device consisting of a pushing center flange (110), a hub flange (131), steel balls (120), and a pushing board (140) for rotation transmission, is composed of a release buckle (146) installed on the center flange (110) side of pushing board (140), and a retention ball (145) equipped on the inner circumference side of the center flange (110).
