Abstract
A reciprocating pump (15) adapted for actuation by a reciprocating input, typically generated by wave motion. The pump (15) comprises a fluid delivery means such as a piston mechanism (201) adapted for reciprocation in response to reciprocation of the input. A gearing means (251) is provided between the reciprocating input and the piston mechanism (201), the gearing means (251) delivering a stroke length to the reciprocating piston mechanism (201) different from the stroke length of the reciprocating input. Typically, the gearing means (251) delivers a reduction in the stroke length of the reciprocating piston mechanism (201) in relation to the stroke length of the reciprocating input. The gearing means (251) may comprise a pulley mechanism (261) coupling the piston mechanism (201) to the reciprocating input.
