Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method of producing a flame retardant polymer by adding a phosphorus flame retardant, represented by Chemical Formula 1 below, to a first esterification reaction process such that the amount of phosphorus thereof relative to the amount of polymer is 500 to~ 50000 ppm, and then adding a manganese salt and a phosphorus compound, each of which is a UV stabilizer, in a second esterification process such that the amount of each of manganese and phosphorus thereof is 0.1 to 500 ppm, a polyester polymer produced using the method, and a polyester fiber produced using the polyester polymer. The polyester polymer and polyester fiber have permanent flame retardant properties and excellent UV stability.
