Abstract
This invention relates to a system for treating waste gas and a method thereof. The system comprises: an electrochemical device for reducing the dissolved oxygen to hydrogen peroxide and decomposing the hydrogen peroxide into hydroxy radical so as to form a washing solution containing hydroxy radical; an oxidation device for decomposing the residual hydrogen peroxide into hydroxy radical; and a washing device for contacting the washing solution to the waste gas so as to decompose the organic pollutant in the waste gas. The system of this invention uses electrochemical reaction to reduce the dissolved oxygen in the solution to hydrogen peroxide; in addition, ferrous ion and hydrogen peroxide may react to form hydroxy radical. Ultraviolet is used to decompose the residual hydrogen peroxide into hydroxy radical, resulting in a washing solution full of hydroxy radical to work as an oxidant. Accordingly, the present invention may increase the waste gas treatment efficiency and effectively utilize the dissolved oxygen in the solution, largely reducing the costs of the treatment of waste gas.
